Setup
Unpacking
Carefully remove the speaker from its packaging. Inspect for any signs of damage during transit. Retain all packaging materials for future transport or service needs.
Placement
For optimal sound performance, position the speakers equidistant from your primary listening position. Avoid placing them directly in corners or too close to walls, as this can overemphasize bass frequencies. Experiment with toe-in (angling the speakers slightly inward towards the listening position) to achieve the best stereo imaging.
Connecting to an Amplifier
Ensure your amplifier is turned off before making any connections. Connect the speaker cables from your amplifier's speaker outputs to the binding posts on the rear of the HECO Aurora 1000. Match the positive (+) terminal on the amplifier to the positive (+) terminal on the speaker, and the negative (-) terminal on the amplifier to the negative (-) terminal on the speaker. Incorrect polarity can result in poor sound quality.
Adjusting Spikes
The included height-adjustable metal cone spikes can be screwed into the base of the speaker. Adjust them to ensure the speaker is stable and level on your floor surface. For hard floors, consider using protective discs under the spikes to prevent scratches.
Operating
Power On/Off
After all connections are secure, turn on your amplifier. Start with the volume at a low setting and gradually increase it to your desired listening level.
Break-in Period
Like many high-fidelity loudspeakers, the HECO Aurora 1000 may require a break-in period for its drivers to reach optimal performance. This typically involves 50-100 hours of normal listening. During this time, the sound quality may gradually improve, with bass becoming deeper and highs becoming smoother.
Volume Levels
While the Aurora 1000 is capable of high output, prolonged listening at extremely high volumes can cause hearing damage and potentially damage the speakers. Listen responsibly.
Maintenance
Cleaning
Wipe the cabinet surfaces with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn marks, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed immediately by a dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or solvents, as these can damage the finish.
Grille Care
The speaker grilles protect the drivers. They can be gently removed for cleaning or for aesthetic preference. Use a soft brush or a lint roller to remove dust. Avoid pressing on the drivers when the grilles are removed.
Environmental Conditions
