4. Setup & Installation

4.2 Front Camera Installation

Attach the suction cup mount to your vehicle's windshield, ideally near the rearview mirror for optimal front view. Ensure the windshield surface is clean and dry before attaching the mount for a secure hold. The dash cam unit snaps onto the mount.

4.3 Rear Camera Installation

Mount the rear camera on your vehicle's rear window using its adhesive. Route the 20ft rear camera cable discreetly along the vehicle's headliner and side panels to the front dash cam unit. The cable can be tucked into trim gaps using the provided trim removal tool for a clean installation.

4.4 Power Connection

Connect the provided car charger to your vehicle's cigarette lighter socket and the Type-C USB cable to the dash cam. For 24/7 parking mode functionality, a hardwire kit (sold separately) is required to provide continuous power when the vehicle is off.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Operation

The dash cam automatically begins recording when powered on. It utilizes seamless loop recording, overwriting the oldest files when the memory card is full. The variable sensitivity G-sensor detects impacts and automatically saves the footage to an event file, preventing it from being overwritten.

5.2 Wi-Fi & App Connection

The dash cam features built-in 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi for fast transfer speeds. Download the Vantrue Free App (available for iOS/Android) to connect your smartphone to the dash cam. This allows for live video preview, file download, and instant sharing of recordings to social media.

5.3 Parking Mode

The X4S Duo offers three parking modes for 24/7 surveillance:

  • Motion Detection: Records and saves events when motion is detected around the vehicle.
  • Collision Detection: Records and locks footage upon detecting an impact.
  • Low Bitrates Recording: Continuously records at 1080P@15FPS or 720P@15FPS to save storage space while capturing important events.

Note: Parking mode requires a hardwire kit or an external battery for continuous power.

5.6 Enhanced Night Vision

6. Settings & Configuration

Access the dash cam's menu via the physical buttons or the Vantrue App to configure various settings.

6.1 Resolution Settings

The front camera supports cinematic 4K (2160P@30fps), 1440P@60FPS, 1080P@120FPS, and 1080P@60FPS. When both cameras record simultaneously, the resolution is 4K+1080P@60FPS. Adjust these settings based on your storage needs and desired video quality.

6.2 Exposure Adjustment

Adjust the exposure settings for both front and rear cameras to optimize video brightness, especially in challenging lighting conditions or if your vehicle's windows have a dark tint.

6.3 Rotate Display

If the rear camera is installed upside down, use the 'Rotate Display' setting in the menu to flip the image horizontally, ensuring correct orientation of the recorded footage.

7. Maintenance

7.1 MicroSD Card Management

Regularly format your microSD card to maintain optimal performance and prevent data corruption. The dash cam supports seamless loop recording, automatically overwriting old files, but periodic manual formatting is recommended.

7.2 Capacitor Technology

The built-in super capacitor allows the camera to withstand extreme temperatures from -4°F to 176°F (-20°C to 80°C), offering greater reliability and a longer lifespan compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries. No specific maintenance is required for the capacitor itself, but avoid exposing the device to temperatures outside this range.
