Introduction
The Logitech Roommate is a dedicated appliance designed to facilitate video conferencing in meeting spaces. It enables the deployment of various video conferencing solutions, such as Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android and Zoom Rooms Appliances, by connecting with compatible Logitech devices like MeetUp or Rally Systems. This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, and maintaining your Roommate device.

Setup
Follow these steps to set up your Logitech Roommate for operation.
- Placement: Position the Roommate securely and out of sight, if desired. It can be mounted using compatible accessories (sold separately) or placed on a flat surface. Refer to Figure 4 for mounting points.
- Power Connection: Connect the power supply (not included with all bundles) to the Power input port on the rear of the Roommate (refer to Figure 2). Plug the power supply into a suitable electrical outlet.
- Display Connection: Connect your display(s) to the HDMI-OUT 1 and/or HDMI-OUT 2 ports using HDMI cables (refer to Figure 2). The Roommate supports one or two displays.
- Network Connection: Connect an Ethernet cable from your network router or switch to the Ethernet port on the rear of the Roommate for internet access (refer to Figure 2).
- Peripheral Connection: Connect compatible Logitech video conferencing devices, such as a Logitech MeetUp or Rally System, to the USB-A ports on the rear of the Roommate (refer to Figure 2).
- Input Source (Optional): If you need to share content from an external device (e.g., a laptop), connect it to the HDMI-IN port (refer to Figure 2).
- Initial Boot: Once all connections are made, the Roommate will power on automatically or can be powered on using the front power button (refer to Figure 3). Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the initial software setup for your chosen video conferencing platform (e.g., Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android, Zoom Rooms Appliances).
Operating Instructions
Once set up, the Roommate operates primarily through the chosen video conferencing application.
- Power On/Off: The device typically powers on automatically when connected to power. Use the power button on the front panel (Figure 3) for manual power cycling if necessary.
- Video Conferencing: Interact with your chosen platform (Teams, Zoom, etc.) via the connected display and peripherals. The Roommate acts as the processing unit for these applications.
- Content Sharing: If an external device is connected to HDMI-IN, use the conferencing application's interface to initiate content sharing.
- Bluetooth Pairing: The Bluetooth button on the front panel (Figure 3) can be used to pair compatible Bluetooth accessories, such as a remote control or audio device, if supported by your conferencing platform.
Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Roommate.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the ventilation grilles (Figure 1) are free from dust accumulation.
- Software Updates: Regularly check for and apply software updates through Logitech Sync, Teams admin center, or Zoom Device Management. Updates often include performance improvements and security patches.
- Ventilation: Ensure adequate airflow around the device. Do not block the ventilation grilles.
Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter.
- No Power:
- Verify the power cable is securely connected to the Roommate and the electrical outlet.
- Ensure the power supply (if external) is functioning correctly.
- No Video Output:
- Check HDMI cable connections to both the Roommate and the display(s).
- Ensure the display is set to the correct HDMI input source.
- Restart the Roommate.
- No Audio:
- Confirm that your connected audio device (e.g., Logitech MeetUp) is properly connected via USB.
- Verify audio settings within your video conferencing application.
- Note: Some conferencing platforms (e.g., Teams for Android) may have limitations regarding audio routing to HDMI outputs. Ensure your audio device is approved and configured correctly within the application.
- Network Connectivity Issues:
- Check the Ethernet cable connection.
- Verify your network router/switch is operational.
- Confirm network settings within the Roommate's system configuration.
- Peripherals Not Detected:
- Ensure USB cables are securely connected.
- Restart the Roommate and the peripheral device.
- Verify compatibility of the peripheral with the Roommate and your chosen conferencing platform.
