Before First Use
Before using your Haden Coffee Maker for the first time, it is recommended to clean all removable parts and run a brewing cycle with only water.
- Wash the carafe, carafe lid, and reusable filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth.
- Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water up to the 12-cup mark.
- Place the empty reusable filter basket into its holder and close the top lid.
- Place the empty carafe with its lid on the warming plate.
- Plug the coffee maker into a standard electrical outlet.
- Press the 'ON/OFF' button to start a brewing cycle with only water. This will clean the internal components.
- Once the cycle is complete, discard the water from the carafe and allow the appliance to cool.
Setup
Follow these steps to set up your coffee maker for daily use.
- Placement: Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface, away from the edge of the counter. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the unit.
- Fill Water Reservoir: Open the top lid and fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water. Use the water level markings on the side of the reservoir or the carafe for accurate measurement. Do not exceed the 'MAX' fill line.
- Add Coffee Grounds: Place the reusable filter basket into its holder. Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter. A general guideline is one tablespoon of coffee grounds per cup, but adjust to your taste.
- Close Lid: Close the top lid securely.

- Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
- Press the 'ON/OFF' button to start a brewing cycle.
- After about half of the mixture has brewed through, press the 'ON/OFF' button to turn off the coffee maker and let it soak for at least 15 minutes to allow the vinegar to work on the deposits.
- Press the 'ON/OFF' button again to complete the brewing cycle.
- Discard the vinegar solution from the carafe.
- Run 2-3 full brewing cycles with fresh, cold water only to rinse out any remaining vinegar taste or odor.
