3. Setup and Initial Operation

3.1 Winding the Watch

Your Orient RA-AA08 watch is powered by an automatic movement (Caliber F6922), which winds itself through the motion of your wrist. If the watch has stopped or has not been worn for an extended period, it can be manually wound:

1. Ensure the crown is in position 0 (fully pushed in and screwed down).
2. Unscrew the crown by turning it counter-clockwise until it springs out to position 1.
3. Turn the crown clockwise approximately 30-40 times to provide sufficient power reserve.
4. Push the crown back into position 0 and screw it down clockwise firmly to ensure water resistance.

Regular wear will keep the watch wound. A full power reserve typically lasts for approximately 40 hours.

3.2 Setting the Time and Date

To set the time and date on your watch:

1. Unscrew the crown and pull it out to position 2. This will stop the second hand (hacking function), allowing for precise time setting.
2. Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to set the hour and minute hands. Advance the hands past 12 o'clock to determine if it is AM or PM for correct date change.
3. Once the time is set, push the crown back into position 1.
4. Turn the crown clockwise to set the date and counter-clockwise to set the day. Note that the day display may show two languages (e.g., English and Spanish). The watch will cycle through both languages during the automatic day change process after midnight before settling on the selected language. Avoid setting the date or day between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM, as this can damage the movement.
5. After setting the date and day, pull the crown back out to position 2.
6. Set the exact time again, synchronizing with a reliable time source.
7. Push the crown back into position 0 and screw it down clockwise firmly to ensure water resistance.

• Always ensure the crown is fully screwed down before exposing the watch to water.
