2. General Safety Information
WARNING: Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations, and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
2.1 Work Area Safety
- Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
- Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
- Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2.2 Electrical Safety
- Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way.
- Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
- Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
2.3 Personal Safety
- Always wear eye protection. Use safety glasses, goggles, or a face shield.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, non-skid safety shoes, hard hats, or hearing protection.
- Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating a power tool.
- Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source, picking up or carrying the tool.

3.1 Package Contents
- SKIL 5830 AA Circular Saw
- 24-tooth Carbide-tipped Saw Blade (190mm diameter)
- Parallel Guide
- Vacuum Adapter
- Instruction Manual
4. Setup and Adjustments
4.1 Installing the Saw Blade
- Ensure the saw is unplugged from the power source.
- Press the spindle lock button to secure the blade shaft.
- Use the provided wrench to loosen the blade bolt.
- Carefully remove the outer flange and the old blade (if applicable).
- Place the new 190mm blade onto the spindle, ensuring the teeth are pointing in the direction of rotation indicated by the arrow on the saw.
- Re-attach the outer flange and tighten the blade bolt securely with the wrench while holding the spindle lock.
4.2 Adjusting Cutting Depth
To adjust the cutting depth, loosen the depth adjustment lever. Raise or lower the base plate to the desired depth, then securely tighten the lever. For optimal cutting, the blade should extend approximately 3-6mm below the workpiece.
4.3 Adjusting Bevel Angle
The saw allows for bevel cuts up to 52 degrees. Loosen the bevel adjustment knob, tilt the saw base to the desired angle indicated on the scale, and then tighten the knob firmly.

4.4 Attaching the Parallel Guide
Insert the parallel guide into the slot on the front of the base plate. Adjust it to the desired cutting width and secure it with the locking screw. This guide helps maintain straight cuts parallel to the edge of the workpiece.
4.5 Connecting Dust Extraction
For a cleaner work environment, attach the provided vacuum adapter to the dust port on the saw. Connect a standard vacuum cleaner hose to the adapter. The integrated dust blower also helps keep the cut line clear.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Before Starting
- Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped or supported.
- Verify the blade is sharp and correctly installed.
- Adjust cutting depth and bevel angle as required.
- Wear appropriate safety gear (eye protection, hearing protection, dust mask).
5.2 Making a Cut
- Plug the saw into a suitable power outlet.
- Position the front edge of the saw's base plate on the workpiece, ensuring the blade is clear of the material.
- Press the safety switch and then the trigger to start the saw. Allow the blade to reach full speed before engaging the material.
- Slowly guide the saw forward along the marked cut line. The cut-line viewer and dust blower will assist in maintaining visibility.
- Maintain a firm grip on both handles. Do not force the saw; let the blade do the work.
- Once the cut is complete, release the trigger and allow the blade to stop completely before lifting the saw from the workpiece.
