WilTec Wood Stove Fan (Model 63103)

Instruction Manual

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the WilTec Wood Stove Fan. This heat-powered fan is designed to improve the circulation of warm air from your wood stove or fireplace, distributing heat more efficiently throughout your living space. Operating without electricity or batteries, it utilizes the thermal energy from the stove surface to generate its own power. This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your fan.

2. Safety Instructions

Please read and understand all safety instructions before operating the fan. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage to the product.

  • Hot Surface: The fan becomes very hot during operation. DO NOT touch any part of the fan except the carrying handle when it is hot. Always use gloves or wait for the fan to cool down before handling.
  • Children and Pets: Keep the fan out of reach of children and pets.
  • Placement: Always place the fan on a flat, stable surface on top of the stove, away from the edge. Ensure it is not placed directly in front of the chimney pipe or in an area where it could be easily knocked over.
  • Operating Temperature: The fan is designed to operate within a temperature range of 50°C to 300°C (122°F to 572°F). Exceeding 300°C can damage the fan and its thermoelectric module. Use a stove thermometer to monitor your stove's surface temperature.
  • Overheating Protection: The fan includes a bimetallic strip at its base designed to slightly lift the fan if the temperature exceeds 250°C, protecting the motor. If this occurs, move the fan to a cooler part of the stove.
  • Moving the Fan: When moving the fan, always use the carrying handle.
  • Modifications: Do not modify or disassemble the fan. Any modifications will void the warranty and may pose a safety risk.

3. Setup

Setting up your WilTec Wood Stove Fan is simple and requires no assembly or external power source.

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove the fan from its packaging.
  2. Placement: Place the fan on a smooth, flat surface on the top of your wood stove or fireplace. The ideal position is towards the back or side of the stove, where the temperature is highest, but not directly in the path of the chimney pipe. Ensure there is enough space for the blades to rotate freely without obstruction.
  3. Optimal Location: For best performance, position the fan where it can draw cooler air from the back of the stove and push warm air forward into the room. Avoid placing it too close to the front edge of the stove where temperatures might be lower, or too close to the chimney pipe where temperatures can be excessively high.

4. Operating Instructions

The WilTec Wood Stove Fan operates automatically based on the heat generated by your stove.

  • Automatic Start: As the stove heats up and reaches a surface temperature of approximately 50°C (122°F), the thermoelectric module in the fan's base will begin to generate electricity, causing the blades to rotate.
  • Speed Adjustment: The fan's speed will increase as the stove's temperature rises, reaching its maximum efficiency between 200°C and 300°C (392°F and 572°F).
  • Automatic Stop: When the stove cools down and the surface temperature drops below 50°C (122°F), the fan will slow down and eventually stop.
  • Heat Distribution: The fan gently pushes the warm air horizontally across the room, preventing it from rising directly to the ceiling. This results in a more even and comfortable heat distribution.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your stove fan.

  • Cleaning: When the fan is completely cool, wipe the blades and base with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and debris. Do not immerse the fan in water.
  • Blade Inspection: Periodically check the fan blades for any damage or warping. Damaged blades can cause imbalance and noise.
  • Storage: If storing the fan for an extended period, ensure it is clean and dry. Store it in a cool, dry place, preferably in its original packaging.
  • Lubrication: The fan's motor is sealed and does not require lubrication.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your stove fan, refer to the following troubleshooting guide:
