3. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to properly set up your NICREW UFO Aquarium Air Pump:

  1. Prepare the Air Tubing: Uncoil the provided air tubing. If using two air stones, cut the tubing into appropriate lengths for each air stone and the check valves.
  2. Connect Air Stones: Attach one end of each air tube to the stem of an air stone. Ensure a snug fit.
  3. Install Check Valves: Cut a small section from each air tube (approximately 1-2 inches) and insert a check valve into each section. Ensure the check valve is oriented correctly, allowing air to flow from the pump towards the air stone (usually indicated by an arrow). This prevents water backflow into the pump.
  4. Connect to Air Pump: Connect the free end of each air tube (with the check valve) to one of the dual outlets on the NICREW UFO Air Pump.
  5. Position in Aquarium: Place the air stones at the desired location within your aquarium. Use suction cups if necessary to secure the air tubing along the back or side of the tank.
  6. Position the Pump: Place the air pump on a stable, dry surface above the water level of your aquarium. This is crucial for preventing water from siphoning back into the pump.
  7. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet.

4. Operating Instructions

Once the air pump is properly set up and plugged in, it will begin operating automatically. The NICREW UFO Air Pump is designed for continuous operation to maintain consistent oxygen levels in your aquarium.

  • Power On/Off: The pump operates when plugged into a power outlet. To turn it off, simply unplug the power cord.
  • Airflow Adjustment: This model does not feature an adjustable airflow control. The output is constant.
  • Quiet Performance: The pump is engineered for ultra-silent operation. Any noticeable noise may indicate an issue (refer to Troubleshooting).

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your air pump.

  • Air Stone Cleaning/Replacement: Over time, air stones can become clogged with algae or mineral deposits, reducing airflow. Clean them regularly by scrubbing with a brush or soaking in a diluted bleach solution (rinse thoroughly before re-use). Replace air stones every few months or when airflow significantly diminishes.
  • Air Tubing Inspection: Periodically check air tubing for kinks, cracks, or blockages. Replace any damaged tubing.
  • Check Valve Inspection: Ensure check valves are functioning correctly and allowing one-way airflow. Replace if they appear clogged or damaged.
  • Pump Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the pump with a dry cloth to remove dust. Do not use harsh chemicals or immerse the pump in water.
