Model: 1

1. Introduction

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the safe and effective use of your SAEUYVB Candle Making Kit with Hot Plate. Please read all instructions carefully before beginning your candle-making project. This kit is designed for adults and includes all necessary components to create custom soy candles.

2. Safety Information

Always prioritize safety when working with heat and open flames.

  • Hot Plate Safety: The wax melting pot operates at US 110-120V (50/60HZ). Ensure it is placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from flammable materials. Do not touch the heating element or the pot when it is hot. Use the provided anti-scald gloves.
  • Hot Wax: Melted wax can cause burns. Handle with extreme care. Avoid splashing. Keep children and pets away from the work area.
  • Ventilation: Work in a well-ventilated area to disperse any fumes from melting wax or essential oils.
  • Fire Hazard: Never leave the wax melting pot unattended while in use. Keep a fire extinguisher or baking soda nearby in case of a small fire. Do not pour water on a wax fire.
  • Wick Placement: Ensure wicks are centered and trimmed to 1/4 inch before lighting a finished candle.
  • Candle Burning: Burn candles within sight. Keep away from drafts and vibrations. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire.

5. Operating Instructions: Candle Making Process

Follow these steps to create your custom candles:

Nine-step visual guide to making candles

Image: A visual step-by-step guide demonstrating the candle making process, from attaching the wick to pouring and cooling.

  1. Attach and Secure the Wick: As described in the Setup section, attach the wick to the bottom of the candle tin and secure it with a wooden holder.
  2. Prepare the Wax Melting Pot: Plug in the wax melting pot. Turn the knob to the desired temperature. The LED display will show the current temperature. For soy wax, a melting temperature between 170-185°F (76-85°C) is generally recommended.
  3. Add Soy Wax: Carefully add the soy wax flakes into the melting pot. Do not overfill.
  4. Melt the Wax: Allow the wax to melt completely. Stir occasionally with the stirring spoon to ensure even melting. This process may take some time depending on the amount of wax.
  5. Add Wax Dye (Optional): Once the wax is fully melted, you can add wax dye blocks for color. Add small pieces of dye and stir until dissolved and the desired color is achieved.
  6. Control Temperature and Add Fragrance: Reduce the heat setting on the melting pot to allow the wax to cool slightly to approximately 160-180°F (71-82°C) before adding essential oils. This helps preserve the fragrance. Add your chosen essential oil(s) and stir gently for about 30 seconds to ensure even distribution.
  7. Pour the Wax: Carefully pour the melted, scented, and colored wax into the prepared candle tins. Fill to about 1/2 inch from the top.
  8. Cooling and Curing: Allow the candles to cool undisturbed at room temperature for several hours, or preferably 24-48 hours, for proper curing. This helps prevent tunneling and ensures a good scent throw.
  9. Final Touches: Once completely cooled and hardened, remove the wooden wick holders and trim the wicks to 1/4 inch. Apply warning stickers to the bottom of the tins and use the marker pen and writable labels to personalize your candles.

Optional: Creating Ribbons for Gift Boxes

To enhance your gift boxes, follow these steps to create decorative ribbons:

Six-step visual guide to tying a decorative ribbon

Image: A visual guide showing six steps to open and form a decorative ribbon from a flat strip, then attach it to a gift box.

  1. Open the Ribbon Feet: Hold the ribbon strip and gently separate the two thin 'feet' at one end.
  2. Hold Thin Ribbons: Hold the two thin ribbons firmly.
  3. Pull Down Thin Ribbons: While holding the main ribbon, pull the two thin ribbons downwards. The main ribbon will start to gather and form loops.
  4. Pull to the End: Continue pulling the thin ribbons until the main ribbon is fully gathered into a bow shape.
  5. Fix to Gift Box: Use the thin ribbons to tie the bow onto your gift box.
  6. Perfect Gift: Your gift box is now adorned with a beautiful ribbon.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning the Wax Melting Pot: After use, allow the pot to cool completely. Once cooled, any residual wax can be gently scraped out. Wipe the interior with a paper towel to remove wax residue. Do not immerse the electrical unit in water. Use a damp cloth to clean the exterior.
  • Storage: Store all unused wax, essential oils, dyes, and accessories in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the wax melting pot clean and stored in its original packaging or a protective container.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Wax not melting or melting slowly.Temperature setting too low; insufficient wax in pot; power issue.Increase temperature setting; ensure sufficient wax for contact with heating element; check power connection.
Finished candle has weak scent.Fragrance added at too high a temperature; insufficient fragrance oil; poor curing.Add fragrance when wax is cooler (160-180°F); increase amount of essential oil; allow candles to cure for 24-48 hours.
Candle tunnels (burns down the middle, leaving wax on sides).Wick too small for the candle diameter; insufficient first burn time.Ensure the first burn allows the melt pool to reach the edges of the container. For future candles, consider a slightly larger wick if tunneling persists.
Wax melting pot overheats.Temperature setting too high; continuous operation without monitoring.Adjust temperature to recommended range for soy wax; monitor the pot and turn off when not actively melting.
