2. Setup and Installation
This unit is designed for a non-destructive, plug-and-play installation, particularly for vehicles equipped with factory navigation. For vehicles without factory navigation, additional wiring or professional installation may be required. It is recommended that installation be performed by a qualified technician if you are not familiar with car audio system installations.
2.1 Pre-Installation Checks
- Verify all components are present as per the packing list.
- Ensure the vehicle's battery is disconnected before starting installation.
- Identify if your Lexus RX (2004-2008) has a factory navigation system. This determines the wiring harness compatibility.
2.2 Installation Steps
- Carefully remove the existing factory radio unit from your vehicle's dashboard.
- Transfer any necessary clips (e.g., yellow clips) from the original unit to the new MOOKAKA unit. Exercise caution to avoid damaging vehicle interior vinyl.
- Connect the provided wiring harness to the vehicle's existing connectors. Ensure all connections are secure.
- Connect the GPS antenna. For optimal signal, mount it on the passenger side dash corner. Alternatively, it may function adequately behind the unit.
- Connect any optional accessories such as a rear view camera, external microphone (if desired, though the built-in mic is often sufficient), or USB devices.
- Carefully mount the new MOOKAKA unit into the dashboard opening.
- Reconnect the vehicle's battery.
- Power on the unit and perform initial function tests.
