3. Setup and Assembly

The GYMAX Rollator Walker comes mostly pre-assembled. Follow these steps for initial setup:

  1. Unfold the Walker: Carefully remove the walker from its packaging. Gently pull the sides apart until the frame locks into place. Ensure all locking mechanisms are secure.
  2. Attach Backrest: If the backrest is not already attached, slide it into the designated slots on the frame.
  3. Adjust Handle Height: Press the adjustment buttons on the side of the handles and slide them up or down to your desired height. Ensure both handles are at the same height and the buttons click securely into place. The ideal height allows your arms to be slightly bent at the elbow when holding the handles.
  4. Attach Storage Bag: Secure the detachable storage bag to the frame as intended.
  5. Deploy Footrests (for wheelchair mode): If using as a transport chair, swing the footrests forward and lock them into position.

  • Brake Check: Regularly test the handbrakes to ensure they engage and disengage properly. Adjust if necessary (consult a professional if unsure).
  • Fastener Check: Ensure all screws, bolts, and locking mechanisms are tight and secure. Do not overtighten.
  • Storage: Store the rollator in a dry, clean place away from extreme temperatures.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Walker feels unstable:
    • Ensure all frame components are fully extended and locked.
    • Check that the handle heights are evenly adjusted.
    • Verify that the wheels are securely attached and not damaged.
  • Brakes are not working effectively:
    • Inspect the brake cables for any kinks or damage.
    • Ensure the brake pads are making proper contact with the wheels.
    • If issues persist, professional adjustment may be required.
  • Difficulty folding/unfolding:
    • Ensure no items are obstructing the folding mechanism.
