- Inspection: Periodically inspect the hose and connections for any signs of wear, damage, or leaks. Replace any damaged parts immediately.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your heater, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Heater Fails to Ignite:
- Ensure the propane tank valve is fully open.
- Check that the regulator hose is securely connected to the tank.
- Verify the control knob is held in the 'PILOT' position for sufficient time during ignition.
- Check if the igniter battery needs replacement (AA battery).
- Pilot Flame Does Not Stay Lit:
- Ensure the control knob is held in for at least 30 seconds after ignition to allow the thermocouple to heat up.
- Check for strong drafts that might be extinguishing the pilot.
- Main Burner Does Not Ignite from Pilot:
- After the pilot is stable, slowly rotate the control knob from 'PILOT' to 'HIGH' or 'LOW'.
- Ensure there is sufficient propane in the tank.
- Heater Shuts Off Unexpectedly:
- Check if the heater has been tilted (tip-over protection activated).
- Verify the propane tank is not empty (hypoxia protection).
- Ensure there are no obstructions to the flame or gas flow (flame protection).
