4. Setup and Installation

The Metty Metal Handrail is designed for easy DIY installation. Follow these steps carefully for a secure and stable setup.

4.1 Pre-Installation Considerations

  • Determine the optimal placement for your handrail. It is adjustable to fit 1 to 4 steps.

  • Gather all necessary tools, including a drill (hammer drill recommended for concrete), measuring tape, and a pencil.

4.2 Assembly Steps

  1. Assemble the Handrail: Connect the main rail and support bars using the provided screws. Ensure the curved ends of the handrail are positioned correctly for comfortable grip.
  2. Positioning: Place the assembled handrail on your steps to determine the exact mounting locations for the base plates. Mark the drill points accurately with a pencil.
  3. Drilling Holes:
    • For wood surfaces, use the standard drill bit to pre-drill pilot holes at the marked locations.
    • For concrete surfaces, use the masonry drill bit and a hammer drill to drill holes at the marked locations.
  4. Secure the Handrail:
    • For wood surfaces, align the base plates with the pre-drilled holes and secure the handrail using the self-drilling screws. Use the hex bit and bit extension with your drill.
    • For concrete surfaces, insert the expansion bolts into the drilled holes. Place the handrail base plates over the bolts and tighten securely with the nut driver.
  5. Final Adjustments: The handrail features adjustable angles to accommodate different step heights. Ensure all connections are tight and the handrail is stable before use.
