Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the safe operation, setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your RYOBI ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Cordless Reciprocating Saw, model PBLRS01. Please read and understand all instructions before using the tool to ensure safe and effective operation.
General Safety Information
Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves when operating power tools. Ensure your work area is well-lit and clear of obstructions. Keep bystanders, especially children, away from the work area. Disconnect the battery pack before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the tool. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
Setup
1. Battery Installation
The RYOBI ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Cordless Reciprocating Saw is a bare tool and requires a RYOBI ONE+ 18V battery and charger, which are sold separately. To install the battery, align the battery pack with the tool's battery port and slide it in until it clicks securely into place. To remove, press the release latch on the battery pack and slide it out.

This image clarifies that the battery and charger are not included with the saw and must be purchased separately.
2. Blade Installation and Removal
Ensure the battery pack is removed before installing or removing the blade. To install a blade, lift the easy-release blade lever located on the front of the saw. Insert the shank of the reciprocating saw blade fully into the blade clamp. Release the lever to secure the blade. Tug on the blade to ensure it is firmly seated. To remove, lift the blade lever and pull the blade out.

3. Adjusting the Pivoting Shoe
The saw features a pivoting shoe that can be adjusted to control the depth of cut and provide stability. The shoe pivots automatically to follow the contour of the workpiece. Ensure the shoe is always in contact with the workpiece during operation for optimal control and reduced vibration.
Operating Instructions
1. Powering On/Off
To start the saw, depress the variable speed trigger. The tool will begin to operate. To stop the saw, release the trigger. The saw is equipped with a lock-off button to prevent accidental starting. Press the lock-off button before depressing the trigger to operate the tool.
2. Variable Speed Trigger
The variable speed trigger allows you to control the cutting speed. Press the trigger lightly for slower speeds and increase pressure for higher speeds. This feature provides greater control for different materials and applications.
3. Cutting Techniques
Always ensure the blade is sharp and appropriate for the material being cut. For wood, use a coarse-toothed blade. For metal, use a fine-toothed blade. Hold the tool firmly with both hands. Place the shoe against the workpiece before starting the cut. Allow the blade to reach full speed before engaging the material. Apply steady, even pressure; do not force the tool. The orbital action helps with faster cutting in wood.
4. LED Worklight
The integrated LED worklight illuminates the work surface, improving visibility in dimly lit areas. The light activates automatically when the trigger is pressed.

Maintenance
1. Cleaning
Regularly clean the tool's ventilation openings to prevent overheating. Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior. Do not use solvents or harsh chemicals, as these can damage plastic parts. Remove any sawdust or debris from the blade clamp area.
2. Blade Care
Inspect blades before each use for sharpness and damage. Replace dull or damaged blades immediately. Store blades in a protective case to prevent damage and injury.
3. Storage
When not in use, store the tool in a dry, secure location out of reach of children. Remove the battery pack before storing. Avoid storing in direct sunlight or areas with extreme temperatures.
Troubleshooting
- Tool does not start: Ensure the battery pack is fully charged and properly inserted. Check if the lock-off button is engaged before pressing the trigger.
- Reduced cutting performance: The blade may be dull or incorrect for the material. Replace the blade or select a more appropriate type. Ensure the shoe is firmly against the workpiece.
- Excessive vibration: Check that the blade is securely installed. Ensure the shoe is in contact with the workpiece.
- Overheating: Clean ventilation openings to ensure proper airflow. Avoid continuous heavy-duty use without breaks.
