1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your Intex Krystal Clear Saltwater Pool Chlorine System. This system is designed to keep your above-ground pool water clean and clear by generating natural chlorine from salt, reducing the need for traditional chemical chlorine.
2. Safety Information
Always read and follow all instructions carefully. Failure to do so can result in serious injury or property damage. Keep this manual for future reference.
- Electrical Safety: Ensure the system is connected to a properly grounded 110-120 volt outlet with a Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). Do not operate if the power cord or plug is damaged.
- Water Safety: Never operate the system without proper water flow. Ensure all connections are secure to prevent leaks.
- Chemical Handling: While this system reduces chemical use, proper handling of pool salt is necessary. Avoid direct contact with eyes and skin.
- Children: Keep children away from the system during operation and maintenance.
- General Warning: This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.

5. Setup
Proper setup is crucial for the optimal performance of your saltwater system. Ensure your filter pump is off and disconnected from power before beginning.
- Add Salt to Pool Water: Follow the instructions on your pool salt packaging to add the correct amount of salt to your pool. Allow time for the salt to dissolve completely before operating the system.
- Connect System to Filter Pump: The saltwater system connects in-line with your existing filter pump. Water flows from the pool, through the filter pump, then through the saltwater system, and finally back into the pool. Ensure all hoses and connections are tight to prevent leaks.
- Set Up Control Panel: Once physical connections are complete and the pool is filled with properly dissolved salt water, you can set up the control panel for scheduling and cleaning cycles. Refer to the Operating Instructions section for details.

6. Operating Instructions
The control panel provides easy access to all system functions. Ensure your filter pump is running before activating the saltwater system.
- Power On/Off: Use the main power button on the control panel to turn the system on or off.
- Timer Function: Utilize the built-in timer to set daily operating cycles (e.g., 6, 10, or 14 hours). This ensures consistent chlorine generation.
- Boost Function: For periods of heavy pool use or high temperatures, use the Boost function to temporarily increase chlorine output.
- Lock/Unlock: The control panel features a lock function to prevent accidental changes to settings.
- Indicator Lights: Pay attention to the indicator lights on the control panel. These lights will alert you to conditions such as low salt, high salt, low pump flow, or service requirements.

7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your saltwater system.
- Monitor Salt Levels: Periodically check your pool's salt level using test strips. The system's indicator lights will also alert you if the salt level is too low or too high. Adjust salt levels as needed.
- Self-Clean Function: Utilize the system's self-clean modes (6, 10, or 14 hours) to maintain the electrolytic cell. This helps prevent mineral buildup.
- Filter Pump Maintenance: Ensure your filter pump is operating within the recommended flow rate (300 to 1,000 GPH). A clean and efficient filter pump is vital for the saltwater system's performance.
- Winterization: Before winter, drain and properly store the saltwater system according to the detailed instructions in the full user guide.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Intex Krystal Clear Saltwater Pool Chlorine System, refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:
- Low Salt Indicator: If the low salt light illuminates, add pool salt according to your pool's volume and the salt manufacturer's recommendations. Allow time for the salt to dissolve and circulate before rechecking.
- High Salt Indicator: If the high salt light illuminates, partially drain some pool water and refill with fresh water to dilute the salt concentration.
- Low Flow Indicator: Check your filter pump for proper operation. Ensure the pump is running, the skimmer basket is clear, and there are no blockages in the hoses or filter.
- System Not Generating Chlorine: Verify that the salt level is correct, the filter pump is running, and the self-clean cycle is not active. Ensure the electrolytic cell is clean.
