Operating Instructions
Audio Playback and Calls
Once connected, your headphones will deliver JBL Signature Sound for both music and voice calls. The 40mm drivers ensure clear and powerful audio.
Microphone Usage
The detachable microphone features advanced noise-canceling technology and voice control for mute functionality. This makes it ideal for online meetings and communication through universal chat apps like Zoom, GoToMeeting, Skype, and WebEx. When not needed, the microphone can be detached.
Controls
The headphones feature integrated controls for volume adjustment and muting the microphone. These controls operate independently of your device's system volume. Ensure your device's volume is set to a high level for optimal control via the headphones.

Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life of your JBL FREEWFHWL headphones:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the headphones. For the ear cushions, gently wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap solution if necessary, then dry thoroughly. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Storage: When not in use, store the headphones in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Handling: Avoid dropping the headphones or exposing them to excessive force, which can damage internal components.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No sound or intermittent audio. | USB dongle not properly connected; headphones not paired; device audio output settings. | Ensure the USB dongle is fully inserted. Re-insert the dongle. Check your computer's sound settings to ensure the JBL headphones are selected as the output device. |
| Microphone not working. | Microphone not attached correctly; muted; device input settings. | Ensure the detachable microphone is securely connected. Check if the microphone is muted via the headphone controls or your chat application. Verify that the JBL microphone is selected as the input device in your computer's sound settings. |
| Headphones suddenly turn off. | Low battery. | Recharge the headphones. There is no explicit battery life indicator on the headphones, so regular charging is recommended for uninterrupted use. |
| Ear pads feel warm or uncomfortable after extended use. | Material of ear pads; prolonged wear. | Take short breaks during long listening sessions to allow your ears to cool. |
| Volume control on headphones doesn't seem effective. | Device's system volume is too low. | Ensure your computer's or device's master volume is set to a high level (e.g., 100%). The headphone's volume control adjusts the output level from the headset itself, not the system volume. |
