2. Safety Information
Read all instructions carefully before installation and use. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, injury, or damage to the product or vehicle.
- Always disconnect the vehicle's battery before beginning any electrical work to prevent electric shock.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and gloves, during installation.
- Ensure the vehicle's engine is off and cool before handling light bulbs, as they can become hot during operation.
- Do not touch the LED chips directly, as oils from your skin can reduce their lifespan and performance.
- Verify that the bulb type (H4) is compatible with your vehicle's headlight assembly.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- If the product does not light up normally or cannot be installed correctly, discontinue use and consult a professional.
3. Installation Guide
This section provides general installation steps. Specific procedures may vary depending on your vehicle model. Refer to your vehicle's service manual for detailed instructions.
3.1 Pre-Installation Check
- Confirm the PIAA LEH170 LED bulb is the correct H4 type for your vehicle.
- Ensure sufficient space behind the headlight assembly for the bulb. The LEH170 is designed to be compact, similar to original halogen bulbs.
- Gather necessary tools (e.g., screwdriver, wrench, gloves).

3.2 Installation Steps
- Access Headlight Assembly: Open the hood and locate the back of the headlight assembly. You may need to remove covers or other components to gain access.
- Disconnect Power: Disconnect the electrical connector from the existing halogen bulb.
- Remove Old Bulb: Unclip or twist to release the old halogen bulb from its housing. Carefully remove it.
- Install LED Bulb: Insert the PIAA LEH170 LED bulb into the headlight housing, ensuring it is seated correctly and securely. The compact design of the LEH170 should allow for a straightforward fit.
- Secure Bulb: Re-engage any clips or locking mechanisms to hold the LED bulb in place.
- Connect Power: Connect the vehicle's electrical connector to the PIAA LEH170 LED bulb.
- Repeat for Other Side: Follow the same steps for the other headlight.
- Test Functionality: Before reassembling any covers, turn on your vehicle's lights to ensure both low and high beams function correctly.
- Reassemble: Reattach any covers or components removed during access.

3.3 High Beam Indicator Unit (Optional)
For vehicles that do not have a high beam indicator or where the indicator does not function correctly after LED bulb installation, an optional PIAA LPH27 High Beam Indicator Light Unit may be required. This unit is inserted into one side of the headlight coupler to restore normal indicator operation. Refer to the applicable chart for your vehicle model to determine if this optional part is necessary.
4. Operating Instructions
The PIAA LEH170 LED bulbs operate similarly to standard halogen bulbs but offer enhanced performance and features.
- Low Beam Operation: When your vehicle's low beams are activated, the LED bulbs will provide 3000 lumens of light (per pair) at a 6600K color temperature.
- High Beam Operation (Dual High Beam): When high beams are activated, the PIAA LEH170 utilizes its proprietary dual high beam function. This means both the low beam and high beam elements illuminate simultaneously, providing a combined output of 3800 lumens (per pair) and significantly broadening the illuminated area for optimal night driving.
- Color Temperature: The 6600K color temperature provides a bright, white light. Refer to Figure 4.1 for a visual representation of color temperatures.

5. Maintenance
The PIAA LEH170 LED bulbs are designed for long-lasting performance with minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure optimal operation:
- Regular Inspection: Periodically check the headlight assemblies for any signs of damage, loose connections, or moisture ingress.
- Cleaning: Keep the headlight lenses clean from dirt, dust, and debris. Use a soft cloth and a mild cleaning solution specifically designed for automotive plastics. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Avoid Touching LEDs: Do not touch the LED chips directly with bare hands. If accidental contact occurs, clean with a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol.
- Wiring Check: Ensure all wiring connections remain secure and free from corrosion.
