3. Setup
- Prepare the Gameboard: Unfold the main gameboard sections and arrange them as indicated in the game guide. The museum layout will evolve as you play.
- Character Selection: Each player chooses a character pawn. Place the pawns at their designated starting positions on the gameboard.
- Card Separation: Separate the 117 cards into three distinct piles: Suspects (characters), Weapons (stolen items), and Rooms (locations).
- Secret Envelope: From each of the three piles (Suspects, Weapons, Rooms), secretly select one card without looking and place it into the "Secret Envelope." This envelope contains the solution to the mystery. Place the sealed envelope aside, face down.
- Distribute Remaining Cards: Shuffle the remaining cards from all three piles together. Deal these cards face down to all players as evenly as possible. Players should keep their cards secret.
- Detective Notebooks: Each player receives a detective notebook and a pencil (not included). Players mark off the cards they hold, as these cannot be the solution.

4. Operating (How to Play)
The game is played cooperatively. The objective is to escape the museum and correctly identify the traitor, the stolen item, and its hiding place.
Game Flow:
- Player Turns: Players take turns moving their pawns around the museum gameboard. The game involves exploring exhibits, drawing cards, and solving puzzles.
- Movement: Move your pawn to explore different rooms and areas of the museum. Some areas may require solving puzzles to unlock.
- Gathering Clues: As you move and interact with the game, you will uncover clues. These clues help you narrow down the possibilities for the traitor, the stolen item, and its location. Mark off possibilities in your detective notebook.
- Solving Puzzles: The game features various puzzles that must be solved to progress. Work together with other players to decipher these challenges.
- Making Accusations: Once you believe you have enough information, you can make an accusation. If your accusation is correct, you win the game! If incorrect, the game continues until the correct solution is found or all players are eliminated.
