Important: Professional installation is highly recommended for this product.

This kit is designed as an upgrade from the factory system and requires modifications to your vehicle. Instructions for vehicle-specific modifications are not included with this manual. It will not work with factory wiring and requires a separate monitor/display with an RCA video input.

5.1 Pre-Installation Checks

  • Ensure all kit components are present and undamaged.
  • Verify vehicle compatibility using the information in Section 4.
  • Confirm you have a compatible monitor with an RCA video input.
  • Gather necessary tools for vehicle panel removal and wiring.

5.2 General Installation Steps (Consult a professional for detailed vehicle-specific instructions)

  1. Disconnect Vehicle Battery: For safety, disconnect the negative terminal of your vehicle's battery before starting any electrical work.
  2. Remove Existing Tailgate Handle: Carefully remove the original tailgate handle bezel from your vehicle.
  3. Install New Tailgate Handle Bezel with Camera: Mount the new tailgate handle bezel, which integrates the rear view camera, into the vehicle.
  4. Route Wiring: Carefully route the 8-meter video cable and 3-meter fused power cable from the camera location to the desired monitor location and a suitable power source. Ensure cables are secured and away from moving parts or heat sources.
  5. Connect Power: Connect the fused power cable to a suitable 12V power source (e.g., reverse light circuit for automatic activation, or an accessory circuit for constant power).
  6. Connect Video: Connect the RCA video connector from the camera harness to the RCA video input on your monitor.
  7. Reconnect Battery: Once all connections are secure, reconnect the vehicle battery.

6. Operating Instructions

Once properly installed and connected to a compatible monitor, the TRQ Park Assist Camera will activate when the vehicle is placed in reverse gear (if wired to the reverse light circuit) or when manually switched on (if wired to an accessory circuit with a switch).

  • Automatic Activation: When the vehicle is shifted into reverse, the camera feed will automatically display on your connected monitor.
  • Manual Activation: If wired to an accessory circuit, activate the camera via the installed switch.
  • Viewing Area: The camera provides a wide 167-degree viewing angle, offering a comprehensive view of the area behind your vehicle.
  • Parking Assistance: Use the displayed video feed to safely maneuver your vehicle while parking or backing up.

Caution: Always check your surroundings visually in addition to using the camera system. The camera is an aid and does not replace safe driving practices.

7. Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your TRQ Park Assist Camera, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Clean Lens Regularly: Periodically clean the camera lens with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt, dust, and debris that may obstruct the view. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Inspect Wiring: Occasionally check the wiring and connections for any signs of wear, damage, or loose connections.
  • Waterproof Integrity: The camera has an IP67 waterproof rating, but avoid directing high-pressure water jets directly at the camera lens or housing during vehicle washing.
  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents near the camera or tailgate handle bezel, as these can damage the finish or electronic components.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your TRQ Park Assist Camera, refer to the following troubleshooting steps:

8.1 No Image on Monitor

  • Check Power Connection: Ensure the camera's power cable is securely connected to a functional 12V power source and that the fuse is intact.
  • Verify Video Connection: Confirm the RCA video cable is securely connected to both the camera and the monitor's video input.
  • Monitor Input Selection: Ensure your monitor is set to the correct video input channel for the camera.
  • Vehicle in Reverse: If wired for automatic activation, ensure the vehicle is in reverse gear.

8.2 Distorted or Poor Image Quality

  • Clean Camera Lens: A dirty lens is a common cause of poor image quality. Clean it gently as described in Section 7.
  • Check Video Cable: Inspect the video cable for any kinks, pinches, or damage that could interfere with the signal.
  • Power Fluctuations: Ensure the camera is receiving stable power. Voltage fluctuations can affect image quality.

8.3 Camera Not Activating Automatically

  • Reverse Light Connection: Verify that the camera's power wire is correctly tapped into the vehicle's reverse light circuit.
  • Fuse Check: Ensure the fuse on the power cable is not blown.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, it is recommended to consult a professional automotive technician.
