6.3 Using the Gigabit LAN Port

The Gigabit LAN port can be used for two primary purposes:

  • Connecting Wired Devices: Connect devices without Wi-Fi capability (e.g., smart TVs, gaming consoles, PCs) to the repeater via an Ethernet cable to integrate them into your network.
  • LAN Bridge Mode: If your repeater is connected to the router via an Ethernet cable, it can function as a Wi-Fi access point, extending your wireless network with a wired backbone.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Firmware Updates

Regularly update the repeater's firmware to ensure optimal performance, security, and access to new features. If connected to a FRITZ!Box, firmware updates are often managed automatically through the Mesh network. Otherwise, access the repeater's web interface (usually by typing http://fritz.repeater or its IP address into a browser) to check for and install updates.

7.2 Cleaning

Clean the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.

7.3 Resetting the Device

To reset the FRITZ!Repeater to factory settings, press and hold the Connect button for approximately 15 seconds until the LED indicator flashes rapidly. Release the button, and the device will restart with default settings.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Connection (Red LED):
    • Ensure the repeater is within range of your router. Try moving it closer.
    • Verify that your router's Wi-Fi is active.
    • Repeat the WPS connection process.
  • Slow Speed:
    • Relocate the repeater to a position with better signal strength (check LED indicator).
    • Ensure there are no major obstructions (e.g., thick walls, metal objects) between the repeater and your devices or router.
    • Check for interference from other electronic devices.
  • Cannot Access Web Interface:
    • Ensure your device is connected to the repeater's Wi-Fi network or via the LAN port.
    • Try accessing http://fritz.repeater or the repeater's IP address (check your router's network device list).
    • Temporarily disable any VPN or proxy settings on your computer.
