4. Setup

  1. Identify Connections: Locate the Type-C USB input port, the +IN and -IN pads for alternative 5V input, and the BAT+ and BAT- pads for battery connection.
  2. Connect Power Input: Connect a 5V power source to the Type-C USB port. Alternatively, solder 5V input wires to the +IN and -IN pads, ensuring correct polarity.
  3. Connect Battery: Connect your polymer ternary lithium battery to the BAT+ and BAT- pads. Ensure BAT+ connects to the positive terminal of the battery and BAT- connects to the negative terminal. Incorrect polarity can damage the board and battery.
  4. Current Adjustment (Optional): The charging current is factory set or can be adjusted by modifying a specific resistance on the board. Refer to the IP2312 datasheet for detailed instructions on current adjustment if a different charging current is required.

5. Operating Instructions

  1. Initiate Charging: Once the 5V power source and the battery are correctly connected, the charging process will begin automatically.
  2. Monitor Charging Status:
    • A red indicator light will illuminate, indicating that the battery is currently charging.
    • A blue indicator light will illuminate when the battery has reached its full charge capacity, and the charging process has terminated.
  3. Disconnection: Once the blue indicator light is on, you may disconnect the battery. Disconnect the 5V power input when charging is complete or when the board is not in use.

6. Maintenance

  • Keep the charging board clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry brush or compressed air for cleaning.
  • Avoid exposing the board to liquids or high humidity.
  • Periodically inspect all connections for secure contact and signs of wear or corrosion.
  • Store the board in a cool, dry environment when not in use.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Indicator Lights / No Charging:
    • Verify that the 5V power source is active and correctly connected to the Type-C port or +IN/-IN pads.
    • Check the Type-C USB cable for damage or proper insertion.
    • Ensure the battery is correctly connected to BAT+ and BAT- with the correct polarity.
    • Confirm the battery is not fully charged already.
  • Board Overheating:
    • Ensure the charging current is appropriate for the connected battery. Excessive current can cause overheating.
    • Provide adequate ventilation around the charging board.
    • Check for any short circuits in the wiring.
  • Battery Not Reaching Full Charge:
    • Verify the battery's health and capacity.
    • Ensure the charge cut-off voltage setting (4.2V/4.35V) is appropriate for your specific battery type.
