  1. Connect the power adapter to the charging station and plug it into a suitable power outlet.
  2. Place a Li-ion battery into the charging station. The charge level indicator on the battery will show its status.
  3. A full charge takes approximately 60 minutes. The indicator will show full charge when complete.
  4. The clipper comes with two batteries, allowing for extended operation.

5.2 Attaching and Detaching the Blade

The Heiniger Opal Clipper uses an A5 snap-on blade system.

  1. To Attach: Ensure the clipper is switched off. Align the blade with the clipper head and press firmly until it snaps into place.
  2. To Detach: Ensure the clipper is switched off. Locate the blade release lever (if present, typically on the back of the clipper head) and push it to release the blade. Carefully remove the blade.

5.3 Lubricating the Blade

Before each use, apply a few drops of the supplied Heiniger lubricating oil to the teeth and friction surfaces of the blade. This reduces heat, wear, and ensures optimal cutting performance.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Powering On/Off and Speed Settings

  1. Insert a charged battery into the clipper handle.
  2. Locate the power switch on the clipper body.
  3. Slide the switch to position 1 for the first speed setting (approx. 2600 double strokes/min).
  4. Slide the switch further to position 2 for the second speed setting (approx. 3100 double strokes/min). This setting is recommended for thick or dirty coats.
  5. To turn off the clipper, slide the switch back to the '0' position.

6.2 Clipping Technique

  • Ensure the animal's coat is clean and dry before clipping for best results and to prolong blade life.
  • Hold the clipper firmly and move it against the direction of hair growth.
  • Use smooth, even strokes. Avoid pressing too hard, as this can cause irritation or uneven clipping.
  • Regularly check the blade temperature. If it becomes too hot, switch to a cool blade or allow it to cool down to prevent skin burns.
  • For detailed work or sensitive areas, use caution and a slower speed setting if appropriate.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning the Blade

  1. After each use, switch off the clipper and detach the blade.
  2. Use the supplied cleaning brush to remove all hair and debris from the blade and the clipper head.
  3. For thorough cleaning, blades can be cleaned with a specialized blade cleaner or disinfectant spray. Ensure blades are completely dry before re-oiling and storage.

7.2 Lubrication

Regular lubrication is crucial for the longevity and performance of your clipper. Apply Heiniger lubricating oil to the blade before, during (if clipping for extended periods), and after each use.

7.3 Battery Care and Storage

  • Store batteries in a cool, dry place.
  • Avoid fully discharging the batteries frequently. Recharge them when the indicator shows low charge.
  • If storing for an extended period, charge batteries to approximately 50% capacity.
  • Do not expose batteries to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight.
