1. Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Byron DIC-21545 Audio Intercom System. This system is designed for multi-apartment buildings, specifically supporting up to four apartments, enabling two-way audio communication with visitors.
The outdoor unit and indoor units communicate wirelessly via 868 MHz radio frequency, offering a range of up to 125 meters in open field conditions. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper functionality and to maximize the lifespan of your device. Keep this manual for future reference.
2. Safety Information
- Ensure all power sources are disconnected before performing any installation or maintenance.
- Only use the specified power adapters or batteries. Incorrect power sources can damage the device and void the warranty.
- Do not expose the outdoor unit to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or corrosive substances. While the outdoor unit has an IP44 rating for splash water protection, it is not fully waterproof.
- Keep indoor units away from water and high humidity.
- Do not attempt to open or repair the units yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
- Keep batteries out of reach of children. Dispose of used batteries responsibly according to local regulations.
- Ensure proper ventilation for all units to prevent overheating.

4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Outdoor Unit Installation
The outdoor unit can be powered either by 6x AA batteries (not included) or by connecting it to an existing 8-24V wired power supply (adapter not included).
- Choose Location: Select a suitable location near your entrance, protected from direct heavy rain and sunlight if possible. The unit has an IP44 rating, offering protection against splashing water.
- Mounting: Use the provided mounting plate as a template to mark drilling points on the wall. Drill holes, insert wall plugs, and secure the mounting plate with screws.
- Power Connection:
- Battery Power: Insert 6x AA batteries into the designated compartment. Ensure correct polarity.
- Wired Power: Connect the 8-24V power supply wires to the appropriate terminals on the outdoor unit. Consult an electrician if unsure.
- Attach Outdoor Unit: Carefully attach the outdoor unit to the mounting plate, ensuring it is securely fastened.

4.2 Indoor Unit Installation
Each indoor unit is powered by its dedicated adapter and plugs directly into a standard electrical outlet.
- Choose Location: Select a convenient location within each apartment, ensuring it is within the 125m wireless range of the outdoor unit (in open field conditions). Walls and other obstructions will reduce this range.
- Power On: Plug the adapter into a wall socket and connect it to the indoor unit. The unit will power on automatically.
- Pairing (if necessary): The units are typically pre-paired. If pairing is required, refer to the specific pairing instructions provided in the quick start guide or on the manufacturer's website.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Receiving a Call
When a visitor presses the call button for your apartment on the outdoor unit, your indoor unit will ring. You can choose from 15 different melodies and adjust the volume up to 80 dB across 5 levels.
- Answer Call: Press the "Talk" button on your indoor unit to establish two-way audio communication with the visitor.
- End Call: Press the "Talk" button again or wait for the call to automatically disconnect after a set period.
5.2 Door Release Function
If your door is equipped with an electric strike (not included), you can open the door remotely from your indoor unit.
- During an active call with a visitor, press the "Door Release" button on your indoor unit. This will activate the electric strike, unlocking the door.
- Ensure the electric strike is correctly wired to the outdoor unit according to its own installation instructions.
5.3 Adjusting Settings
- Volume Control: Use the dedicated volume buttons on the indoor unit to adjust the ringtone and communication volume. There are 5 levels available.
- Melody Selection: Cycle through the 15 available melodies using the melody selection button on the indoor unit.

6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the units with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or chemical sprays.
- Battery Replacement (Outdoor Unit): If using battery power, replace all 6x AA batteries when the low battery indicator appears. Ensure to use new, high-quality batteries and dispose of old ones properly.
- Regular Checks: Periodically check the outdoor unit for any signs of wear or damage, especially to the mounting and power connections.
