3.4. App Setup
- Download the "Swann Security" app from your device's app store (iOS or Android).
- Follow the in-app instructions to create an account and add your NVR system. This typically involves scanning a QR code on the NVR or entering its serial number.
- Once connected, you can view live feeds, configure settings, and receive alerts directly on your smartphone or tablet.
4. Operation Guide
4.1. Live View
Access live camera feeds through the connected monitor/TV or via the Swann Security app. The NVR supports an 8-channel display, allowing you to monitor multiple cameras simultaneously.
4.2. Recording & Playback
- Continuous Recording: The 2TB hard drive records footage 24/7. Older footage is automatically overwritten when the drive is full.
- Event-Triggered Recording: Configure True Detect™ (heat & motion sensing) to record only when significant activity is detected, saving storage space and reducing review time.
- Playback: Use the NVR interface or the Swann Security app to review recorded footage. You can search by date, time, or event type.
- Cloud Backup: Easily transfer incident video to your personal Dropbox account in the cloud for secure off-site storage.
4.3. Motion Detection & Alerts
The system's advanced analytics, including Face Recognition, Person & Vehicle Detection, and Line Crossing, can be configured to trigger alerts and notifications to your mobile device when specific events occur. This helps in virtually eliminating false triggers.

4.4. Two-Way Audio
The cameras are equipped with microphones, allowing you to monitor audio from the camera's location. The 2-way talk feature enables you to speak through the camera's speaker from your app, facilitating communication with visitors or warning off intruders.
4.5. Smart Home Voice Control
Integrate your Swann system with Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa. Use voice commands to view live feeds on compatible smart displays or TVs, enhancing convenience and accessibility.
5. Maintenance
- Regular Cleaning: Periodically clean the camera lenses and NVR unit with a soft, dry cloth to ensure optimal performance and clear image quality.
- Firmware Updates: Ensure your NVR and cameras have the latest firmware. Updates are typically managed through the Swann Security app and provide performance improvements and new features.
- Hard Drive Management: While the 2TB HDD offers ample storage, regularly review and back up important footage to your Dropbox account to prevent loss due to overwriting.
- Cable Inspection: Periodically check all PoE Ethernet cables for any signs of wear or damage, especially for outdoor installations, to maintain reliable connectivity.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Swann security system, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:
- No Video/Offline Camera:
- Check all cable connections (Ethernet, power) to ensure they are secure.
