5. Installation (Setup)
- Turn Off Power: Locate the circuit breaker or fuse box controlling the outlet you intend to replace. Turn off the power to that circuit. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
- Remove Old Outlet: Unscrew and carefully remove the existing wall plate and outlet from the electrical box. Disconnect the wires from the old outlet, noting which wire connects to which terminal (hot, neutral, ground).
- Prepare Wires: If necessary, strip approximately 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) of insulation from the ends of the wires. Ensure wires are straight and free of nicks.
- Connect Wires: The ELEGRP USB Wall Outlet supports both side wiring and back wiring.
- Green Screw: Connect the bare copper or green insulated ground wire to the green screw terminal.
- Silver Screw: Connect the white (neutral) wire to the silver screw terminal.
- Brass Screw: Connect the black (hot) wire to the brass screw terminal.
Note: All screws are pre-loosened for easier installation.
- Mount New Outlet: Carefully fold the wires into the electrical box. Insert the new ELEGRP USB Wall Outlet into the box and secure it with the provided mounting screws.
- Install Wall Plate: Attach the new wall plate over the installed outlet.
- Restore Power: Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
- Test Outlet: Test both the AC receptacles and the USB ports to ensure proper functionality.
