4. Setup

  1. Inspect the Hoist: Before each use, thoroughly inspect the entire hoist for any signs of damage, wear, or deformation. Check the chain for kinks, twists, or stretched links. Ensure hooks are not bent and safety latches operate freely.
  2. Secure the Upper Hook: Attach the upper hook securely to a suitable, load-rated anchor point. Ensure the anchor point can safely support the maximum load capacity of the hoist. The safety latch must be fully closed.
  3. Position the Hoist: Ensure the hoist is positioned directly above the center of gravity of the load to be lifted.
  4. Prepare the Load: Attach the lower hook to the load. Use appropriate slings or rigging equipment if necessary. Ensure the load is stable and balanced. The safety latch on the lower hook must also be fully closed.

5. Operating Instructions

The YATOINTO Lever Chain Hoist features a directional lever for controlling lifting, lowering, and free-chain operations.

Directional lever positions for hoist operation
Figure 5.1: The directional lever has three positions: UP (upward), N (neutral/free), and DN (downward). This image shows the lever in each position and its corresponding function.

5.1. Lifting a Load

  1. Set the directional lever to the UP position.
  2. Operate the handle with smooth, consistent strokes. The load will be lifted with each pull of the handle.
  3. Ensure the load remains stable and balanced throughout the lifting process.
  4. Do not release the handle until the load is at the desired height and the hoist mechanism has engaged to hold the load securely.

5.2. Lowering a Load

  1. Set the directional lever to the DN position.
  2. Operate the handle with smooth, controlled strokes. The load will be lowered gradually with each pull.
  3. Maintain control of the load at all times. Avoid rapid lowering, which can cause shock loading.

5.3. Free Chain Operation (No Load)

The free chain mechanism allows for quick adjustment of the chain length when there is no load on the hoist.

  1. Ensure there is NO LOAD on the hoist. Attempting to use free chain with a load can be extremely dangerous.
  2. Set the directional lever to the N (neutral) position.
  3. Pull the chain manually to adjust the hook position quickly.
  4. Once the desired chain length is achieved, return the directional lever to the UP or DN position before applying any load.
