  1. Ensure a fully charged battery is installed and the battery compartment cover is closed.
  2. Insert the safety key (if provided) into its slot.
  3. Press and hold the start button, then pull the bail switch lever towards the handle. The motor will start.
  4. Release the start button once the motor is running.

Stopping the Mower:

  • For extended stops or maintenance, remove the safety key and the battery.

Adjusting Cutting Height:

The mower features a single point height adjustment lever, typically located near one of the rear wheels.

  1. Ensure the mower is off and the blade has stopped rotating.
  2. Pull the height adjustment lever outwards and move it to the desired cutting height setting.
  3. Release the lever to lock it into position. Ensure all four wheels are at the same height setting.

Mulching and Bagging:

  • Bagging: Attach the grass bag as described in the Assembly section. The mower will collect grass clippings in the bag. Empty the bag frequently for optimal performance.
  • Mulching: Remove the grass bag and ensure the mulching plug (if included) is securely inserted into the rear discharge opening. The mower will finely cut and redistribute grass clippings back onto the lawn.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your RYOBI lawn mower. Always disconnect the battery before performing any maintenance.

  • Cleaning: After each use, clean the mower deck, wheels, and exterior with a damp cloth. Remove any grass clippings or debris from the underside of the deck to prevent buildup. Do not use water hoses or pressure washers directly on the motor or electrical components.
  • Blade Care: Periodically inspect the blade for sharpness and damage. A dull or damaged blade can lead to poor cutting performance and excessive battery drain. Sharpen or replace the blade as needed. Refer to the blade replacement instructions in the full manual or consult a qualified service technician.
  • Storage: Store the mower in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. The folding handles allow for compact, vertical storage. Remove the battery before storing for extended periods.
  • Battery Storage: Store batteries in a cool, dry place, away from moisture and heat. For long-term storage, charge batteries to approximately 50% capacity.
