1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Wilfa 609998 Ice Cream Maker. This appliance is designed to help you create delicious homemade ice cream, sorbet, and frozen yogurt with ease. Featuring a powerful built-in compressor, it eliminates the need for pre-freezing the bowl, allowing for continuous use.

2. Important Safety Instructions

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

  • Read all instructions before operating the appliance.

4. Setup and First Use

4.1 Unpacking

  • Carefully remove all packaging materials and components from the box.
  • Check that all parts listed in Section 3 are present and undamaged.
  • Keep packaging materials for future storage or disposal.

4.2 Initial Cleaning

  • Before first use, wash the removable mixing bowl, mixing paddle, and transparent lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.
  • Wipe the main unit with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water or any other liquid.

4.3 Assembly

  • Place the main unit on a clean, dry, flat, and stable surface. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the appliance.
  • Insert the removable mixing bowl into the main unit's chamber. Ensure it sits securely.
  • Place the mixing paddle into the center of the mixing bowl, ensuring it is properly seated on the motor shaft.
  • Place the transparent lid onto the mixing bowl, aligning it correctly and twisting to lock if applicable.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Preparing Ingredients

  • Prepare your ice cream, sorbet, or frozen yogurt mixture according to your recipe. Ensure the mixture is well-chilled (refrigerated for at least 2-3 hours) before adding it to the machine for best results.
  • Do not fill the bowl more than 2/3 full, as the mixture will expand during the freezing process.

5.2 Making Ice Cream

  • Ensure the machine is assembled as described in Section 4.3.
  • Pour the chilled mixture into the removable mixing bowl.
  • Secure the transparent lid.
  • Plug the appliance into a suitable power outlet. The LCD display will illuminate.
  • Press the POWER button to turn on the machine.
  • Use the TIME+ and TIME- buttons to set the desired churning time. Typical churning times range from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the recipe and desired consistency.
  • Press the START/STOP button to begin the churning and freezing process. The compressor will activate, and the paddle will start rotating.
  • You can add solid mix-ins (like chocolate chips, nuts, or fruit pieces) through the opening in the lid during the last 5-10 minutes of churning.
  • The machine will automatically stop when the set time has elapsed.

5.3 Removing Ice Cream

  • Once the churning is complete, unplug the appliance.
  • Remove the lid and the mixing paddle.
  • Carefully lift out the removable mixing bowl.
  • Use a plastic or wooden spatula to scoop the ice cream into a separate container for serving or storage. Avoid using metal utensils, as they can scratch the bowl.
  • For a firmer consistency, transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and place it in the freezer for 1-2 hours (this is known as "curing" or "hardening").

6. Cleaning and Maintenance

Proper cleaning ensures the longevity and hygiene of your ice cream maker.

  • Always unplug the appliance before cleaning.
  • Remove the mixing bowl, mixing paddle, and lid. Wash these parts in warm, soapy water. They are not dishwasher safe. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.
  • Wipe the exterior of the main unit with a soft, damp cloth. For stubborn stains, use a mild detergent. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  • Never immerse the main unit in water or any other liquid.
  • Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling or storing the appliance.
  • Store the ice cream maker in a cool, dry place.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your ice cream maker, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
