Package Contents
Verify that all the following items are included in your package:
- Turntable Unit
- Dust Cover
- Platter
- Drive Belt
- Counterweight
- Headshell (AT-HS10) with VM Stereo Cartridge (VM520EB)
- EP Adapter (for 45 RPM records)

- AC Adapter (approx. 1.3m)
Setup
1. Unpacking and Placement
Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Place the turntable on a stable, level surface away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive vibration. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
2. Platter and Belt Installation
- Place the platter onto the spindle on the turntable base.
- Locate the drive belt. Carefully stretch the drive belt around the inner rim of the platter and then around the motor pulley.

3. Cartridge and Headshell Installation
The AT-LP7 comes with a pre-mounted VM520EB cartridge on an AT-HS10 headshell. If you need to install or replace a cartridge:
- Attach the headshell (with cartridge) to the tonearm. Secure it by rotating the locking ring clockwise.
- Ensure the stylus guard is in place before proceeding.

4. Tonearm Balance and Tracking Force Adjustment
- Zero Balance: With the stylus guard on, gently release the tonearm clamp. Rotate the counterweight until the tonearm is horizontally balanced.
- Tracking Force: While holding the counterweight stationary, rotate the tracking force ring to '0'. Then, rotate the entire counterweight to set the recommended tracking force (standard 2.0g for VM520EB).
- Anti-Skate: Set the anti-skate dial to the same value as the tracking force.
5. Connecting to Audio System
The AT-LP7 features a built-in phono preamplifier, allowing connection to either a phono input or a line-level input on your amplifier or receiver.
- Connect the supplied audio cable to the RCA output jacks on the rear of the turntable.
- Set the PHONO/LINE selector switch on the rear panel to the appropriate position:
- PHONO: If connecting to an amplifier with a dedicated phono input.
- LINE: If connecting to a line-level input (e.g., AUX, CD) on an amplifier without a phono input.
- Connect the other end of the audio cable to the corresponding input on your amplifier.
- Connect the AC adapter to the DC IN jack on the turntable and then plug it into a power outlet.

Operating
1. Playing a Record
- Place a record on the platter. If playing a 45 RPM single, use the EP adapter.
- Select the appropriate speed (33-1/3 or 45 RPM) using the speed selector knob.
- Remove the stylus guard from the cartridge.
- Gently lift the tonearm using the tonearm lift lever.
- Move the tonearm over the desired starting groove of the record.
- Slowly lower the tonearm using the lift lever. The stylus will make contact with the record and playback will begin.

2. Stopping Playback
- Lift the tonearm using the tonearm lift lever.
- Return the tonearm to its rest and secure it with the clamp.
- Replace the stylus guard.
- Press the STOP button to halt platter rotation.
3. Using the Dust Cover
The detachable dust cover protects the turntable from dust when not in use. Simply place it over the turntable. Remove it during playback to prevent acoustic feedback and ensure optimal sound quality.

Maintenance
1. Cleaning the Stylus
Regularly clean the stylus using a soft brush designed for stylus cleaning, brushing from back to front. A dirty stylus can cause distorted sound and damage to your records.
2. Cleaning the Turntable
Wipe the turntable cabinet and dust cover with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a cloth lightly dampened with water. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
3. Belt Replacement
The drive belt is a consumable item. If the platter speed becomes inconsistent or the belt shows signs of wear, it may need to be replaced. Contact Audio-Technica support for replacement belts.
Troubleshooting
- No Power: Ensure the AC adapter is securely connected to both the turntable and a working power outlet.
- No Sound or Low Volume: Check all audio cable connections. Verify the PHONO/LINE selector switch is set correctly for your amplifier's input. Ensure your amplifier's input is selected and volume is adjusted.
- Distorted Sound: Clean the stylus. Check tracking force and anti-skate settings. Ensure the record is clean and free of debris.
- Incorrect Speed: Verify the speed selector is set to the correct RPM (33-1/3 or 45) for the record being played. Check if the drive belt is properly seated and not worn.
- Humming Noise: Ensure the turntable is properly grounded if your amplifier requires it (though the AT-LP7 has a built-in pre-amp, grounding can sometimes help with external phono stages). Move the turntable away from other electronic devices that may cause interference.
