4.1 Charging the Device
Before first use, fully charge your iON Edge watch using the included magnetic USB charging cable. Connect the cable to the charging contacts on the back of the watch and to a USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, wall adapter). A full charge provides over 15 hours of battery life.
4.2 Power On/Off
- To Power On: Press and hold the power button (the orange button on the side) until the screen illuminates.
- To Power Off: Press and hold the power button until the power-off option appears on the screen, then confirm your selection.
4.3 Initial Setup
Upon first power-on, the watch may prompt you to set language, time, and unit preferences (yards/meters). Follow the on-screen instructions. Ensure the watch has a clear, unobstructed view of the sky to acquire a GPS signal for accurate course data.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Golf Mode
From the main screen, select 'Play Golf'. The watch will automatically search for nearby golf courses. Select your desired course from the list. The watch will then display front, center, and back distances to the green.
5.2 GreenView with Movable Pin Placement
Access the GreenView feature to see the shape of the green. Use the touchscreen to drag and drop the pin to its current location for more precise distances to the hole.
5.3 Front/Center/Back Distances
These distances are continuously updated as you move around the course. The large numbers on the display indicate the distance to the center of the green, with smaller numbers typically showing distances to the front and back of the green.
5.4 Hazards
The iON Edge displays distances to up to 6 hazards per hole. Tap the screen or navigate through the display to view distances to various hazards such as bunkers and water features.
5.5 Dynamic Green Mapping
This feature automatically adjusts the green shape and distances based on your angle of approach, providing more accurate information from any position on the course.
5.6 Settings
Access the settings menu to customize preferences such as units of measure (yards/meters), time format, display brightness, and other device configurations.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
Wipe the watch and strap with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the device. Ensure charging contacts are clean and dry before charging.
6.2 Storage
Store the watch in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or high humidity.
6.3 Battery Care
To prolong the overall lifespan of the battery, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the device regularly, even if not in use for extended periods, to maintain battery health.
7. Troubleshooting
- No GPS Signal: Ensure you are outdoors with a clear view of the sky. Wait a few minutes for the watch to acquire satellites. If issues persist, try restarting the device.
- Incorrect Distances: Verify that the correct course and hole are selected. Use the GreenView feature to confirm pin placement. Ensure the watch has a strong GPS signal.
- Battery Not Charging: Check that the magnetic charging cable is securely connected to both the watch and a functional USB power source. Ensure the charging contacts on the watch are clean and free of debris.
