5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert one 9V 6LR61 battery, ensuring correct polarity.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
Note: The 9V battery is not included with the tester. If the battery power drops below 6V, replace it with a new one to ensure accurate measurements.
5.2 External Power Supply (Optional)
The ESR02 Pro can also be powered by an external DC supply. If using an adapter, ensure it provides DC 9V to 12V (including 9V and 12V). Connect the adapter to the DC input jack located on the device.

6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Basic Component Testing
- Power On: Press the "POWER / TEST" button to turn on the device. The LCD screen will illuminate.
- Connect Component: Connect the component to be tested to the appropriate test pins (1, 2, 3) or the SMD test pads. The device supports both plug-in and SMD components.
- Initiate Test: Press the "POWER / TEST" button again. The tester will automatically detect the component type and display its parameters on the screen.
- Read Results: The display will show information such as component type (e.g., NPN, PNP, MOSFET, Diode), pin polarity, HFE (for transistors), valve voltage, junction capacitance, resistance, capacitance, or inductance values.

6.2 Capacitor Discharge Warning
WARNING: Before testing any capacitor, ensure it is fully discharged. Failure to discharge capacitors can damage the internal circuitry of the ESR02 Pro tester.
6.3 Calibration Procedure
To ensure accurate measurements, periodic calibration is recommended:
- Short Test Pins: Connect test pins 1, 2, and 3 together (e.g., using a short wire or by pressing them against each other).
- Enter Calibration Mode: Press the "POWER / TEST" button. The screen will prompt you to enter calibration mode.
- Confirm Calibration: Press the "POWER / TEST" button again within 2 seconds to confirm.
- Release Pins: After a few seconds, the screen will prompt you to release pins 1, 2, and 3.
- Wait for Completion: Release the pins and wait for the calibration process to finish. The device will return to normal operation mode once calibration is complete.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning
Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the casing or screen.
7.2 Battery Replacement
When the battery indicator shows low power (below 6V), replace the 9V battery as described in Section 5.1. Remove the battery if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
8. Troubleshooting
- Device does not power on: Check if the 9V battery is correctly installed and has sufficient charge. If using an external DC supply, ensure it is connected properly and provides the correct voltage (9V-12V).
- Inaccurate readings: Perform a calibration as described in Section 6.3. Ensure the component is properly connected to the test pins/pads. Verify that capacitors are discharged before testing.
- Screen is blank or dim: Replace the 9V battery. If using an external power supply, check its connection.
- Component not detected: Ensure the component leads are making good contact with the test pins/pads. Check for damaged leads or faulty components.
9. Safety Information
- Always discharge capacitors before testing to prevent damage to the tester and potential injury.
- Do not attempt to test components while they are connected to a live circuit.
- Do not open the device casing unless specifically instructed for maintenance. There are no user-serviceable parts inside beyond battery replacement.
- Keep the device away from water, moisture, and extreme temperatures.
- Use only the specified battery type and power supply.
