1. Introduction

2. Package Contents

Please check the package contents upon unboxing to ensure all items are present:

  • 1 x Desview R6 Monitor
  • 1 x Mini HDMI Cable
  • 1 x Micro HDMI Cable
  • 1 x USB Drive (for 3D LUTs)
  • 1 x Monitor Mount
  • 1 x User Manual

Note: NP-F series battery, E6 battery, and DC 12V adapter are not included and must be purchased separately.

3. Product Overview

The Desview R6 features a robust design with intuitive controls and versatile connectivity options.

3.1. Ports and Controls

  • HDMI IN: Connects to your camera's HDMI output.
  • HDMI OUT: Loops out the HDMI signal to another monitor or device.
  • DC IN: Power input for external DC 12V adapter.
  • 3.5mm Headphone Jack: For audio monitoring.
  • USB Port: For loading 3D LUT files.
  • Power Button: Turns the monitor on/off.
  • Function Buttons: Customizable buttons for quick access to features.
  • Mounting Points: 1/4-inch screw threads for attaching to camera rigs or stands.

4. Setup

4.1. Powering the Monitor

The Desview R6 can be powered in two ways:

  1. NP-F/E6 Battery: Attach a compatible NP-F series or E6 battery to the battery plate on the back of the monitor.
  2. DC 12V Adapter: Connect a DC 12V power adapter (not included) to the DC IN port.

4.2. Connecting to a Camera

Use the provided Mini HDMI or Micro HDMI cable to connect your camera's HDMI output to the HDMI IN port on the monitor. The R6 supports 4K HDMI input and loop-out functionality.

4.3. Mounting the Monitor

Attach the included monitor mount to one of the 1/4-inch screw threads on the R6. Secure the mount to your camera's hot shoe or a compatible rig. Ensure the monitor is securely fastened before use.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Power On/Off

Press and hold the power button located on the side of the monitor to turn it on or off.

5.2. Touch Screen Interface and Menu Navigation

The Desview R6 features a responsive touch screen for easy navigation. Swipe from the edges or tap on the screen to access the menu and various monitoring tools. The user interface is designed for quick and intuitive adjustments.

5.3. Display Features

The R6 monitor boasts a 5.5-inch Full HD 1920x1080 IPS panel with 2800 nits of brightness, ensuring clear visibility even in bright sunlight. It offers a 1000:1 contrast ratio and 178° viewing angles.

The monitor also supports HDR (High Dynamic Range) for improved color and brightness representation, and Rec.709 color calibration for accurate color reproduction.

5.4. Advanced Monitoring Tools

The R6 integrates a comprehensive set of tools to assist with exposure, focus, and color accuracy:

  • Waveform: Displays the luminance and chrominance levels of your video signal.
  • Vectorscope: Shows the color information of your image, useful for color grading.
  • Histogram: Visualizes the tonal distribution of your image.
  • False Color: Helps in setting correct exposure by displaying different exposure levels as distinct colors.
  • Zebra: Highlights overexposed areas with a striped pattern.
  • Peaking Focus Assist: Outlines in-focus areas with a selectable color.
  • Safe Area: Displays guides for safe title and action areas.

5.5. 3D LUT Support

The R6 allows you to load up to 32 groups of 3D LUT (Look Up Table) files for color calibration. Connect the included USB drive to the monitor's USB port to import your custom LUTs. This feature helps you preview your footage with desired color grades in real-time.

5.6. Audio Monitoring

Connect headphones to the 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to monitor audio directly from the HDMI signal.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Desview R6 monitor, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the monitor's body. For the screen, use a microfiber cloth specifically designed for electronics and a screen cleaning solution if necessary. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the monitor in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use a protective case to prevent scratches and impacts.
  • Handling: Avoid dropping or subjecting the monitor to strong impacts. Do not attempt to disassemble the monitor, as this will void the warranty.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Desview R6 monitor, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
