3. What's in the Box

Your Sun Joe 24V-X2-21LMSP Lawn Mower Kit includes:

4. Setup

4.1 Assembly

Assembly is required for this product. Follow the instructions provided in the separate assembly guide for attaching the handle, grass collection bag, and any other components.

4.2 Battery Charging

Before first use, fully charge both 24-Volt 4.0 Ah lithium-ion batteries using the supplied dual-port charger. Charging typically takes approximately 2 hours for both batteries.

  1. Connect the dual-port charger to a standard power outlet.
  2. Insert the batteries into the charging ports. Ensure they are seated correctly.
  3. The charger indicator lights will show the charging status. Refer to the charger manual for specific light patterns.
  4. Once fully charged, remove the batteries from the charger.

4.3 Battery Installation

To install the batteries into the mower:

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the mower.
  2. Slide each charged battery into its designated slot until it clicks securely into place.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Starting the Mower

To start the mower:

  1. Ensure batteries are installed and the battery compartment is closed.
  2. Press and hold the safety button located on the handle.
  3. While holding the safety button, pull the bail lever towards the handle.
  4. Release the safety button once the motor starts.

To stop the mower, release the bail lever.

5.2 Self-Propelled Function

This mower features a self-propelled drive with variable speed control. To engage the self-propelled function, activate the drive lever on the handle. Adjust the speed dial to match your walking pace and terrain conditions. There may be a slight delay between engaging the lever and the drive system activating.

5.3 Cutting Height Adjustment

The mower offers 7 cutting height positions, ranging from 1.2 inches to 3.5 inches. To adjust the cutting height:

  1. Ensure the mower is turned off and the batteries are removed for safety.
  2. Locate the height adjustment lever on the side of the mower.
  3. Pull the lever outwards and move it to the desired height setting. Ensure all four wheels are at the same height.
  4. Release the lever to lock it into position.

5.4 Mowing Options

The mower supports three grass discharge options:

  • Grass Collection Bag: Attach the 13.2-gallon grass bag to collect clippings. Empty the bag regularly to maintain optimal performance.
  • Mulching: Insert the mulching plug into the rear discharge opening to finely cut grass clippings and return them to the lawn as natural fertilizer.
  • Side Discharge: Attach the side discharge chute to expel clippings out the side of the mower.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your lawn mower.

6.1 Cleaning

After each use:

  • Ensure the mower is off and batteries are removed.
  • Clean the underside of the mower deck to remove grass clippings and debris.
  • Wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use water jets or harsh chemicals.

6.2 Blade Care

The mower blade should be inspected regularly for sharpness and damage. A dull or damaged blade can lead to poor cutting performance and strain the motor.

  • Always remove batteries before inspecting or servicing the blade.

  • Check the blade for cracks or bends. Replace damaged blades immediately.

6.3 Storage

  • Remove the batteries and store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • The mower's handle can be folded for compact storage.
  • Store the mower in a dry, secure location out of reach of children.
