HOBBYWING Xerun XD10 Pro

HOBBYWING Xerun XD10 Pro ESC Instruction Manual

Model: Xerun XD10 Pro

Introduction

Thank you for choosing the HOBBYWING Xerun XD10 Pro Electronic Speed Controller (ESC). This high-performance sensored brushless ESC is designed to enhance your experience with Hobbywing brushless power systems. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure proper setup and safe operation.

Important Safety Warnings:

  • To prevent short circuits, ensure all wires and connections are well insulated before connecting the ESC to related devices.
  • Ensure all devices are securely connected to avoid poor connections and potential damage to electronic components.
  • Always review the manuals for all power devices and chassis to confirm a rational power configuration before operating this unit.

Setup

Wiring and Connections

Use a soldering iron with a minimum power of 60W to solder all input/output wires and connectors. Proper soldering ensures reliable electrical connections.

BEC Output Configuration

The ESC features a built-in switch mode BEC with a maximum output of 10A. The voltage is adjustable from 5V to 7.4V in 0.1V steps, accommodating various servos and other devices requiring different voltages.

PRG/FAN Port Usage

A dedicated PRG/FAN port allows for connecting an external cooling fan to maximize performance or for connecting an LCD program box or WiFi module for advanced programming.

Operating Instructions

Driving and Braking Force Regulation

The ESC allows for variable frequency regulation of PWM and brake frequencies. This feature enables users to precisely control the driving and braking forces of the motors, optimizing performance for different conditions.

Operational Safety

  • Avoid Free Revving: Do not hold the vehicle in the air and rev it to full throttle. Rubber tires can expand to extreme sizes or even crack, potentially causing serious injury.
  • Temperature Monitoring: Discontinue use immediately if the ESC casing temperature exceeds 90°C (194°F). Prolonged operation above this temperature can damage both the ESC and the motor.
  • Thermal Protection Setting: Hobbywing recommends setting the 'ESC Thermal Protection' to 105°C (221°F). This refers to the internal temperature of the ESC.

Firmware Updates

Firmware upgrades can be performed using a Hobbywing multifunction LCD program box or an OTA Programmer (sold separately).

Maintenance

Battery Disconnection

Always disconnect the batteries after each use. If the ESC remains connected to the batteries, it continuously consumes current, even when turned off. This can lead to complete discharge of the battery and potential damage to both the battery and the ESC if left connected for extended periods.

Troubleshooting and Protections

Built-in Protections

The Xerun XD10 Pro ESC incorporates multiple protection features to safeguard your system:

  • Low-voltage cutoff protection
  • ESC and motor thermal protection
  • Fail-safe (throttle signal loss protection)
  • Reverse polarity protection (Note: The external standard capacitor pack may still be damaged if battery reversal occurs.)

Data Logging

The ESC supports data logging, which records the maximum ESC/motor temperature, motor speed/RPM, and other relevant data in real-time. This information can be valuable for diagnosing performance issues and optimizing settings.
