4. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your Plugable Thunderbolt 4 Hub:

  1. Connect Power: Plug the included power adapter into the DC power input port on the hub, then connect the power adapter to a wall outlet.
  2. Connect to Host Computer: Use the included 0.8m Thunderbolt 4 cable to connect the upstream Thunderbolt 4 port (marked with a computer icon or 'host') on the hub to a Thunderbolt 4 or USB4 port on your computer.
  3. Connect Peripherals: Connect your Thunderbolt devices, USB-C devices, or displays to the three downstream Thunderbolt 4 ports on the hub.

5. Operating Instructions

Once connected, the Plugable Thunderbolt 4 Hub operates automatically, extending your computer's capabilities.

5.1 Power Delivery and Device Charging

  • The hub provides up to 60W Power Delivery to your connected host laptop, allowing it to charge while connected.
  • Each downstream Thunderbolt 4 port provides up to 15W of power for charging connected devices such as smartphones, tablets, or other peripherals.

5.2 Data Transfer

  • M4 MacBooks (Base, Pro, Max) / M1/M2/M3 Pro & Max MacBooks: Support dual 6K@60Hz displays.
  • Base M3 MacBooks: Support one 6K@60Hz and one 5K@60Hz display in clamshell mode.
  • Base M1 and M2 MacBooks: Support a single 6K@60Hz display.
  • Intel MacBooks with Thunderbolt 3: Support dual 4K@60Hz displays.

Note: Functionality will be limited on USB-C only host systems. Thunderbolt 3 Windows systems are not recommended for optimal performance with this hub.
