5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Basic Wireless Operation
After setup, your router will broadcast two Wi-Fi networks: a 2.4 GHz network and a 5 GHz network. The 2.4 GHz band offers wider coverage, while the 5 GHz band provides faster speeds for closer devices.
- Connecting Devices: Search for available Wi-Fi networks on your device and select the SSID (network name) you configured during setup. Enter the Wi-Fi password to connect.
- WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup): For quick connection of WPS-compatible devices, press the WPS/Wi-Fi button on the rear of the router, then press the WPS button on your client device within two minutes.
5.2 Advanced Features
- Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax): The Archer AX23 supports Wi-Fi 6, offering improved efficiency, higher speeds, and better performance in congested environments, especially with Wi-Fi 6 compatible devices.
- Dual-Band Connectivity: The router operates on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands simultaneously, allowing you to assign devices to the most suitable band for optimal performance.
- OneMesh™: If you have other TP-Link OneMesh™ compatible devices (e.g., range extenders), you can create a seamless whole-home mesh Wi-Fi network for uninterrupted coverage. Refer to the TP-Link website for compatible devices and setup instructions.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Firmware Updates
Regularly updating your router's firmware ensures optimal performance, security, and access to new features. You can check for and install updates via the Tether app or the web management interface under 'System Tools' or 'Firmware Upgrade'.
6.2 Resetting the Router
If the router is not functioning correctly, or if you forget your login password, you may need to reset it to factory default settings.
- Soft Reset: While the router is powered on, press and hold the WPS/Reset button on the rear panel for approximately 10 seconds until the LEDs flash. Release the button, and the router will restart with factory settings.
- Hard Reset: If the soft reset does not work, power off the router, then press and hold the WPS/Reset button while powering on the router. Continue holding for about 10-15 seconds until the LEDs flash.
Note: A factory reset will erase all your custom settings, and you will need to reconfigure the router.
