Introduction
This Monoprice Blackbird 4K 4x1 HDMI Switch allows you to connect up to four HDMI source devices to a single HDMI display. It supports video resolutions up to 4K@60Hz, including 1080p@60Hz and all 3D video modes. It can extract audio from the HDMI source to the combined 3.5mm analog stereo/mini Toslink digital optical jack on the rear panel. Front Panel

The rear panel includes four HDMI input ports (In1-In4), one HDMI output port (Out), a combined 3.5mm analog stereo/mini Toslink digital optical audio output, an RS-232 port for control, an IR receiver port, and a DC 5V power input.
Setup & Installation
Follow these steps to properly set up your Monoprice 4K HDMI Switch:
- Connect your HDMI source devices (e.g., DVD player, gaming console, laptop) to the HDMI input ports (In1-In4) on the switch.
- Connect the HDMI output port (Out) on the switch to your HDMI display (e.g., TV, projector).
- If using audio extraction, connect your audio receiver or soundbar to the combined 3.5mm analog stereo/mini Toslink digital optical audio output.
- Connect the 5V DC power adapter to the DC 5V input port on the switch and then plug the adapter into a power outlet.
- Ensure all devices are powered on.

Operating Instructions
You can switch between HDMI inputs using either the front panel button or the included IR remote control.
Using the Front Panel Button
Press the input selection button on the front panel to cycle through the connected HDMI sources (In1, In2, In3, In4). The corresponding LED will illuminate to indicate the active input.
Using the IR Remote Control
Point the IR remote control towards the IR receiver port on the switch. Press the numbered buttons (1, 2, 3, 4) to directly select the desired HDMI input. The 'Next' button can also be used to cycle through inputs sequentially.
Audio Extraction
The switch can extract audio from the active HDMI source and output it through the combined 3.5mm analog stereo/mini Toslink digital optical jack. Use the audio selection buttons on the front panel or remote to choose between Auto, 2CH, 5.1CH, or 7.1CH audio modes, depending on your audio receiver's capabilities.
EDID Management
The switch supports EDID management to ensure compatibility between your source devices and display. The EDID settings can be adjusted via the front panel controls to optimize video and audio performance.
Troubleshooting
- No Video/Audio: Ensure all HDMI cables are securely connected and not damaged. Verify the power adapter is properly connected and the switch is powered on. Try cycling through inputs.
- Remote Not Working: Check if the remote control batteries are correctly inserted and have sufficient charge. Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the IR receiver port on the switch.
- Poor Picture Quality: Verify that your HDMI cables are rated for the resolution and refresh rate you are attempting to use (e.g., 4K@60Hz requires high-speed HDMI cables). Adjust EDID settings if necessary.
