Surface Slim Pen 2 also delivers incredible shading and exceptional pressure sensitivity. Surface Slim Pen 2 does not come with a charger. Surface Slim Pen 2 can charge with Surface Slim Pen Charger, Surface Pro Signature Keyboard, Surface Pro X Signature Keyboard, Surface Laptop Studio, and Surface Duo 2 Pen Cover. All are sold separately.

Setup

Initial Charging

The Surface Slim Pen 2 does not include a dedicated charger. It is designed to charge wirelessly when magnetically attached to compatible Surface devices such as the Surface Pro Signature Keyboard, Surface Pro X Signature Keyboard, Surface Laptop Studio, and Surface Duo 2 Pen Cover. Ensure your Surface device is powered on or connected to a power source for optimal charging. If using a USB-C Charging Base from a Surface Slim Pen 1, a firmware update may be required for compatibility.

Pairing

The Surface Slim Pen 2 connects via Bluetooth 5.0. To pair the pen with your compatible Surface device, ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device. The pen should automatically pair when magnetically attached to a compatible Surface device. For manual pairing or troubleshooting, navigate to your device's Bluetooth settings. Pairing functionality requires Windows 10, Windows 11, or Android with the latest updates.

Operating the Surface Slim Pen 2

Writing and Drawing

Experience natural writing and drawing with the Surface Slim Pen 2. It features zero force inking, meaning ink flows fluidly the instant the pen touches the screen. With 4,096 points of pressure sensitivity, it offers exceptional accuracy and responsiveness for detailed work and shading. The sharper pen tip and improved design allow for ultra-precise tilting and shading at various angles.

Tactile Signals and Productivity

The integrated haptic motor provides tactile feedback, simulating the feeling of pen on paper. This feature enhances the natural writing and drawing experience. Tactile signals are supported on specific applications and Surface devices running Windows 11, such as Surface Laptop Studio and Surface Pro 8.

Maintenance

Cleaning

Troubleshooting

Pen Not Charging

If your Surface Slim Pen 2 is not charging, ensure it is correctly attached to a compatible Surface device or charger. Verify that the Surface device is powered on or connected to a power source. Pen Not Connecting

Inking Issues

Zero force inking is only supported on specific Surface devices, including Surface Pro 8, Surface Pro X, Surface Laptop Studio, and Surface Duo 2.
