WOLFBOX T10 Plus/T10 Mirror Dash Cam Hardwire Kit Instruction Manual

Model: T10 Plus/T10 Hardwire Kit

1. Product Overview

The WOLFBOX Hardwire Kit is designed to provide continuous power to your WOLFBOX T10 Plus/T10 Mirror Dash Cam, enabling 24/7 parking surveillance and eliminating the need for a cigarette lighter adapter. This kit is compatible with vehicles operating on 12V to 24V systems.

  • Wide Compatibility: Connects directly to your vehicle's power system, supporting 12V to 24V input, suitable for cars, trucks, buses, and SUVs.
  • 24/7 Parking Surveillance: Provides constant power to your dash cam, allowing it to monitor your vehicle even when the engine is off, protecting against theft and incidents in parking lots.
  • Ignition-Controlled Power: Can be wired to an ignition-switched fuse for power that turns on and off with your vehicle, ensuring automatic operation without manual intervention.
  • Mini USB Plug: Compatible with all Mini USB dash cams, GPS navigators, and radar detectors, freeing up your vehicle's cigarette lighter port.
  • Low Voltage Protection: Features a smart system that automatically cuts power to the dash cam if your vehicle's battery voltage drops below 11.6V (for 12V systems) or 22.8V (for 24V systems), preventing battery drain.

2. Setup and Installation

2.1 Safety Precautions

Before beginning the installation, ensure the vehicle's engine is off. Disconnect the negative terminal of the vehicle's battery to prevent short circuits or electrical damage during installation.

2.2 Components Overview

The hardwire kit includes the main power cable with a Mini USB connector, a voltage converter box, and various fuse tap sizes to match your vehicle's fuse box.

2.3 Wiring Connection Diagram

Refer to the diagram below for a visual guide on connecting the hardwire kit to your vehicle's fuse box.

Wiring diagram for the hardwire kit. It shows the dash cam connected via Mini USB to the power cord. The power cord connects to a voltage converter. From the converter, a red accessory wire connects to an ACC fuse (2A) in the fuse box, which is powered with the engine key. A yellow battery cord connects to a BATT fuse in the fuse box, which is always powered. A black earth cord connects to a metal part of the fuse box for ground. A warning states to disconnect the negative battery terminal before connecting.

2.4 Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Connect to Dash Cam: Plug the Mini USB end of the hardwire kit into your WOLFBOX dash cam.
  2. Locate Fuse Box: Identify your vehicle's fuse box. This is typically located under the dashboard, in the glove compartment, or in the engine bay. Consult your vehicle's owner's manual if needed.
  3. Connect Constant Power (Yellow Cable): The yellow cable (BATT) provides constant power. Locate a fuse in your vehicle's fuse box that is always live, even when the ignition is off. Use an appropriate fuse tap from the kit to connect the yellow cable to this fuse slot. Ensure you insert the original fuse and a new fuse (if provided) into the fuse tap.
  4. Connect Ignition-Switched Power (Red Cable): The red cable (ACC) provides power only when the ignition is on. Locate a fuse in your vehicle's fuse box that receives power only when the ignition is turned on. Use an appropriate fuse tap to connect the red cable to this fuse slot.
  5. Connect Ground (Black Cable): The black cable (GND) is for grounding. Connect this cable to a metal part of the vehicle's chassis or a bolt that is securely fastened to the vehicle's metal frame. This provides a stable ground connection.
  6. Route Cables: Carefully route all cables to conceal them and prevent interference with driving. Use cable clips or ties to secure them.
  7. Reconnect Battery: Once all connections are secure, reconnect the negative terminal of your vehicle's battery.
  8. Test System: Start your vehicle and check if the dash cam powers on. Turn off the ignition and observe if the parking surveillance mode activates (if applicable to your dash cam model).
Three-step installation guide for the hardwire kit. Step 1: Yellow cable connects to a constant power fuse in the car fuse box. Step 2: Red wire connects to the ACC fuse slot and the yellow wire to the constant fuse slot. Step 3: Black cable (GND) connects to a metal part of the vehicle.

3. Operation

Once installed, the WOLFBOX Hardwire Kit operates automatically based on your wiring configuration and dash cam settings.

3.1 Parking Surveillance

When the vehicle's ignition is turned off, the hardwire kit continues to supply power to the dash cam from the constant power connection (yellow cable). This enables your dash cam's parking surveillance features, such as motion detection or time-lapse recording, to function continuously.

3.2 Low Voltage Protection

The hardwire kit is equipped with a low voltage protection system. If your vehicle's battery voltage drops to 11.6V (for 12V systems) or 22.8V (for 24V systems), the kit will automatically cut power to the dash cam. This prevents excessive discharge of your vehicle's battery, ensuring you can start your engine. Power will resume once the battery voltage returns to a safe level.

4. Maintenance

The WOLFBOX Hardwire Kit requires minimal maintenance. Periodically check the connections to ensure they remain secure and free from corrosion. Ensure cables are not pinched or exposed to excessive heat or moisture. If you notice any issues with power supply to your dash cam, inspect the fuse connections and the ground point.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Dash Cam Not Powering On:
    • Verify all connections (Mini USB, ACC, BATT, GND) are secure.
    • Check the fuses in the fuse taps. Replace any blown fuses.
    • Ensure the vehicle's battery voltage is above the low voltage protection threshold (11.6V for 12V, 22.8V for 24V).
  • Parking Monitor Not Working:
    • Confirm the yellow (BATT) cable is connected to a constant power fuse that is always live.
    • Check your dash cam's settings to ensure parking surveillance mode is enabled.
  • Incorrect Fuse Tap Size:
    • The kit includes multiple fuse tap sizes. Ensure you are using the correct size for your vehicle's fuse box.
    • If your vehicle requires a fuse type not included, you may need to purchase an additional compatible fuse tap separately.
  • Dash Cam Turns Off Unexpectedly:
    • This may be due to the low voltage protection activating. Check your vehicle's battery voltage. If it's low, the kit will cut power to protect the battery.
