Setup

1. Charging the Battery

The V860III-S uses a high-capacity lithium-ion battery. Before first use, fully charge the battery using the provided power adapter.

  1. Insert the battery into the charger.
  2. Connect the charger to a power outlet.
  3. The indicator light on the charger will show charging status (e.g., red for charging, green for fully charged).

2. Installing the Battery

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the side of the flash unit.
  2. Insert the charged lithium-ion battery, ensuring correct polarity.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3. Mounting the Flash on Camera

The V860III-S features a quick-release hot shoe for easy attachment.

  1. Slide the flash unit onto your camera's hot shoe.
  2. Push the quick-release lock lever to secure the flash in place.
  3. To remove, push the quick-release lock lever and slide the flash off.

Operating Instructions

1. Power On/Off

To power on the flash, slide the ON/OFF switch to the "ON" position. To power off, slide it to "OFF".

2. Flash Modes

The V860III-S supports various flash modes. Use the MODE button to cycle through them or the dedicated TTL/M shortcut key.

  • TTL Mode: Automatic flash exposure control. The flash output is automatically adjusted based on the camera's metering.
  • Manual (M) Mode: Allows you to manually set the flash output power from 1/1 to 1/256.
  • Multi (Stroboscopic) Mode: Fires a series of rapid flashes during a single exposure to capture multiple movements of a subject.

3. High-Speed Sync (HSS)

HSS allows you to use flash at shutter speeds faster than your camera's native flash sync speed, enabling wider apertures in bright conditions or freezing fast motion.

  • Activate HSS through your camera's flash settings or the flash unit's menu.
  • The V860III-S supports HSS up to 1/8000s.

4. Modeling Lamp

The integrated modeling lamp helps visualize the lighting effect before taking a shot.

  • Press the modeling lamp button (usually indicated by a light bulb icon) to turn it on/off.
  • Rotate the select dial to adjust the brightness across 10 levels.

5. Wireless Operation (2.4G Wireless X System)

The V860III-S can function as a master or slave unit in the Godox 2.4G wireless X system.

  1. Setting as Master/Slave: Access the wireless settings in the flash menu to set the unit as a master (transmitter) or slave (receiver).
  2. Channel and Group: Ensure the master and slave units are set to the same channel and group for proper communication.

6. Flash Head Rotation

The flash head can be rotated and tilted to direct light for bounce flash or creative lighting.

  • Horizontal rotation: 0° to 330°.
  • Vertical tilt: -7° to 120°.

Maintenance
