2.1 Setting the Time

  1. Pull out the crown: Gently pull the crown (the small knob on the side of the watch case) to its outermost position.
  2. Adjust the time: Rotate the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise until the hour and minute hands display the correct time.
  3. Push in the crown: Once the time is set, push the crown back into its original position. The watch will begin to run.

2.2 Activating Swatch Pay!

The Swatch Pay! feature allows for contactless payments. To activate and set up this functionality, you will need to link your watch to a compatible payment card through the official Swatch Pay! application or a designated Swatch Pay! activation point.

  • Download the Swatch Pay! App: Search for the "Swatch Pay!" application on your smartphone's app store (iOS or Android).
  • Create an account or log in: Follow the in-app instructions to create a new account or log in with an existing Swatch account.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Basic Timekeeping

Your Swatch Blackback Pay watch operates as a standard analog quartz timepiece. Once the time is set (as described in Section 2.1), the watch will continuously display the current time. No further action is required for basic timekeeping until a time adjustment is needed.

3.2 Using Swatch Pay! for Payments

After successful activation, your Swatch Blackback Pay watch is ready for contactless payments at compatible terminals.

  1. Look for the contactless symbol: Ensure the payment terminal displays the universal contactless payment symbol (((()))).
  2. Hold your watch near the terminal: Position your watch close to the contactless reader on the payment terminal. The watch does not require a battery to perform payments, as the NFC chip is passively powered by the terminal.
  3. Wait for confirmation: The terminal will typically indicate a successful transaction with a sound or visual cue.
  4. PIN entry (if required): For transactions above a certain limit, you may be prompted to enter your PIN on the payment terminal.

Important: The Swatch Pay! feature is designed for security. Your card details are tokenized and not stored directly on the watch.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning Your Watch

  • Case and Crystal: Wipe the watch case and crystal with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Strap: For the plastic/silicone strap, clean with mild soap and water, then rinse thoroughly and dry completely. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures, which can degrade the material.

4.2 Battery Replacement

The watch is powered by a standard watch battery. When the watch stops running, the battery needs to be replaced. It is highly recommended to have the battery replaced by an authorized Swatch service center or a professional watchmaker to ensure proper sealing and function. Attempting to replace the battery yourself may void the warranty and could damage the watch.

4.3 Water Resistance

This watch is NOT water resistant. Avoid all contact with water, including showering, swimming, rain, and high humidity. Exposure to water will damage the internal components and is not covered under warranty.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Watch Not Running

  • Check the crown: Ensure the crown is fully pushed in. If it is pulled out, the watch will not run.
  • Battery: The battery may be depleted. Refer to Section 4.2 for battery replacement information.
  • Impact: If the watch has experienced a significant impact, internal components may be damaged. Contact an authorized service center.

5.2 Swatch Pay! Not Working

  • Terminal compatibility: Ensure the payment terminal supports contactless payments.
  • Watch positioning: Hold the watch directly over the contactless reader.
  • Card status: Verify that your linked payment card is active and has sufficient funds. Check the Swatch Pay! app for card status.
  • App/Account issues: Ensure your Swatch Pay! app is up-to-date and your account is in good standing.
  • Regional restrictions: Swatch Pay! functionality may be subject to regional availability and bank participation.

5.3 Condensation Inside Crystal

If you notice condensation inside the watch crystal, it indicates moisture ingress. As this watch is not water resistant, any exposure to moisture can cause damage. Immediately seek assistance from an authorized Swatch service center.
