5. How to Play (Operating Instructions)
Game Objective:
Move around the gameboard exploring the Mushroom Kingdom, buying properties, and collecting coins. The game ends when all properties have been bought. The player with the most coins wins!
Playing the Game:
- Starting Player: The youngest player goes first. Play moves to the left.
- Roll the Dice: On your turn, roll both the numbered die and the power-up die.
- Move Your Token: Move your character token clockwise the number of spaces shown on the numbered die.
- Power-Up Die Action: After moving, check what you rolled on the power-up die:
- Coin Symbol: Press the Coin Sound Unit. Count the number of "pings" you hear, and collect that many coins from the Bank.
- Red Shell Symbol: Sorry, nothing happens – you don't get to press the Coin Sound Unit this time!
- Landing on a Space: Follow the rules of the space you land on:
- Unowned Property: If you land on an unowned property, you must buy it. Pay the Bank the amount shown on the space. Place one of your matching Sold Signs on that space to show you own it. If you don't have enough coins to buy the property, you do nothing.
- Owned Property: If you land on a property someone else owns, pay that player the amount shown on the space. If you own both properties of the same color, collect two times the rent whenever another player lands on one of those properties. If you don't have enough coins to pay the rent in full, pay them what you can. If you land on your own property, do nothing.
- Chance Space: Draw the top Chance card, read it aloud, and follow the instructions. Return the card to the bottom of the deck.
- GO Space: Collect 2 coins from the Bank as you pass or land on GO.
- Just Visiting/Time Out: Do nothing.
- Go To Jail: Move your token directly to the "Just Visiting/Time Out" space. Your turn ends. You do not collect coins for passing GO.
- Free Parking: Do nothing.
- End of Turn: Your turn is over. Pass the dice to the player on your left.
Winning the Game:
The game ends when all properties on the board have been bought. Players then count their coins. The player with the most coins wins the game!
