5. Setup & Installation
Careful installation is crucial for optimal performance and safety. Follow these steps for proper setup:
5.1 Mounting Location
Choose a mounting location that is:
- Secure and stable, away from moving parts.
- Well-ventilated to allow for heat dissipation.
- Protected from moisture and direct sunlight.
- Accessible for wiring and adjustments.
The amplifier is designed for surface mounting. Use appropriate hardware to secure it firmly.
5.2 Wiring Connections
Before making any connections, ensure the vehicle's battery is disconnected.

Image 5.1: Power and Ground Connection Terminals.
- Power Wire (B+): Connect a 50mm / 0 AWG power wire from the positive (+) terminal of the vehicle's battery to the amplifier's B+ terminal. Install a 250A fuse within 18 inches (45 cm) of the battery.
- Ground Wire (GND): Connect a 50mm / 0 AWG ground wire from the amplifier's GND terminal to a clean, unpainted metal surface of the vehicle chassis. Ensure a good electrical connection.
- Remote Turn-On Wire (REM): Connect a remote turn-on wire (typically 18-22 AWG) from your head unit's remote output to the amplifier's REM terminal. This wire turns the amplifier on and off with your head unit.
- RCA Input: Connect RCA cables from your head unit's pre-amp output to the amplifier's RCA input jacks.
- Speaker Output: Connect your subwoofer(s) to the amplifier's speaker output terminals using 2 x 6mm / 2 x 3 AWG speaker wire. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -). The amplifier is stable at 1 Ohm.

6. Operating Instructions
Once installed, follow these steps for initial power-up and adjustment:
6.1 Initial Power-Up
- After all connections are made and verified, reconnect the vehicle's negative battery terminal.
- Turn on your head unit. The amplifier should power on, indicated by the Blue LED.
- Start with the head unit volume low and the amplifier's GAIN control set to minimum.
6.2 Adjusting Controls
- GAIN Control: This matches the amplifier's input sensitivity to your head unit's output. Slowly increase the GAIN until you hear distortion, then back off slightly. The Red LED will illuminate if clipping occurs.
- Subsonic Filter: This filter removes extremely low frequencies that are inaudible and can waste amplifier power or damage subwoofers. Adjust it to protect your subwoofers and improve sound quality.
- Low Pass Filter (LPF): This filter allows only frequencies below a set point to pass through to the subwoofer, ensuring that the subwoofer only reproduces bass frequencies. Adjust it to blend smoothly with your main speakers.
6.3 LED Indicators
- Blue LED: Indicates the amplifier is powered on and operating normally.
- Red LED: Illuminates when output distortion (clipping) is detected. Reduce the GAIN control or head unit volume. If constant, it indicates shorting or thermal protection activation.
- Yellow LED (Flashing): Indicates that the input voltage is below the specified operating range (9V). Check vehicle charging system and wiring.
7. Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your amplifier, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No Power (Blue LED Off) | Blown fuse, disconnected power/ground/remote wire, low battery voltage. | Check fuse (250A), verify all power, ground, and remote connections. Check battery voltage. |
| No Sound Output | RCA cables disconnected, speaker wires disconnected/shorted, amplifier in protection mode. | Check RCA connections, verify speaker wiring for shorts or disconnections. Check LED indicators for protection mode. |
| Distorted Sound (Red LED On) | Gain set too high, poor quality input signal, speaker impedance too low. | Reduce GAIN control. Check head unit output. Verify speaker impedance is not below 1 Ohm. |
| Amplifier Overheating | Insufficient ventilation, prolonged high output, speaker impedance too low. | Ensure adequate airflow around the amplifier. Reduce listening volume. Verify speaker impedance. |
| Yellow LED Flashing | Input voltage below 9V. | Check vehicle's battery and charging system. Verify power wire connections. |
If the problem persists after checking these points, please contact Banda Audioparts customer support.
