Operating Instructions

1. Starting the Trimmer

  1. Ensure the battery is installed and fully charged.
  2. Press and hold the safety lock-out button.
  3. While holding the safety lock-out button, squeeze the trigger switch to start the trimmer.
  4. Release the safety lock-out button once the motor starts.

2. Stopping the Trimmer

Release the trigger switch to stop the trimmer.

3. Speed Control

The trimmer features a high/low speed selector and a variable speed trigger.

  • High/Low Speed Selector: Use the switch on the handle to select between high speed for tougher growth and low speed for lighter trimming or extended battery life.
  • Variable Speed Trigger: Squeeze the trigger further for increased speed and release slightly to decrease speed.

4. Trimming Techniques

  • Sweeping Motion: Use a side-to-side sweeping motion, keeping the trimmer head parallel to the ground.
  • Edging: Tilt the trimmer head to a vertical position to trim along sidewalks or driveways.
  • Cutting Path: The trimmer has an 11-13 inch cut path. Overlap slightly on each pass for an even cut.

5. Advancing the Trimmer Line (Bump Feed)

This trimmer uses a dual 0.080-inch twisted line with a convenient bump feed head.

  1. While the trimmer is running at full speed, gently tap the bump knob on the ground.
  2. The line will automatically extend, and the line cut-off blade on the guard will trim it to the correct length.
  3. Avoid excessive bumping, as this can waste line.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your trimmer. Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance.

1. Cleaning the Trimmer

  • After each use, clean the trimmer housing and guard with a damp cloth.
  • Remove any grass clippings or debris from the air vents to prevent overheating.
  • Do not use strong detergents or solvents, as they may damage plastic parts.

2. Replacing the Trimmer Line

When the trimmer line runs out, it needs to be replaced. Use only 0.080-inch diameter twisted monofilament line.

  1. Remove the battery pack.
  2. Press the tabs on the side of the bump head and pull the spool cover off.
  3. Remove the empty spool.
  4. Wind approximately 20 feet of new 0.080-inch twisted line onto a new spool, following the directional arrows on the spool.
  5. Feed the ends of the line through the eyelets on the spool cover.
  6. Place the new spool back into the head, ensuring the line ends are properly routed.
  7. Snap the spool cover back into place.

3. Battery Care and Storage

  • Store the battery in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Do not store the battery in a discharged state for extended periods. Charge it periodically.
  • Refer to your battery and charger manuals for specific care instructions.
