Setup
1. Charging the Battery
Before first use, fully charge the 1.5Ah Lithium-Ion battery (P189) using the provided charger (P119).
- Connect the charger to a standard 120V AC outlet. The charger's indicator light will illuminate.
- Slide the battery pack onto the charger, ensuring it clicks into place.
- The charger's indicator light will change to indicate charging status (refer to charger manual for specific light patterns).
- Once fully charged, remove the battery from the charger.
Note: Do not store the battery on the charger. Always remove the battery once charging is complete.
2. Installing/Removing the Battery Pack
- To Install: Align the ribs on the battery pack with the grooves in the drill's handle. Slide the battery pack into the handle until it latches securely.
- To Remove: Press the latch button(s) on the battery pack and pull the battery pack out of the handle.
3. Installing/Removing Drill Bits and Driver Bits
- To Install: Rotate the chuck counter-clockwise to open the jaws. Insert the desired drill bit or driver bit into the chuck. Rotate the chuck clockwise to tighten the jaws securely around the bit. Ensure the bit is centered and firmly gripped.
- To Remove: Rotate the chuck counter-clockwise to loosen the jaws and remove the bit.
Operating Instructions
1. Variable Speed Trigger
The drill/driver features a variable speed trigger. Pressing the trigger further increases the speed from 0 to 600 RPM. This allows for precise control over drilling and driving applications.
2. Forward/Reverse Selector
A selector switch located above the trigger controls the direction of rotation:
- Push the selector to the left for forward (clockwise) rotation, used for drilling and driving screws.
- Push the selector to the right for reverse (counter-clockwise) rotation, used for removing screws or backing out drill bits.
- Center the selector to lock the trigger, preventing accidental starts.
3. 24-Position Clutch
The clutch ring, located behind the chuck, allows you to adjust the torque output. This prevents overdriving screws or damaging the workpiece.
- Rotate the clutch ring to select a setting from 1 to 23 for driving screws. Lower numbers provide less torque, higher numbers provide more.
- Select the drill icon setting for drilling applications, which provides maximum torque.
4. LED Work Light
The integrated LED light illuminates the work surface when the trigger is pressed, improving visibility in dimly lit areas.
5. On-Board Bit Storage
The drill/driver features a convenient magnetic tray for storing a single driver bit directly on the tool, ensuring it's always within reach.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Keep the tool's air vents clear and free of debris. Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe down the tool. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
