Setup
1. Setting the Time
- Locate the Crown: The crown is the small knob on the right side of the watch case.
- Pull Out the Crown: Gently pull the crown out to its outermost position (Position 2). The second hand may stop moving.
- Adjust the Time: Rotate the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to move the hour and minute hands. Advance the hands past 12 o'clock to ensure the AM/PM is correctly set for the date change. The date will change around midnight.
- Push In the Crown: Once the correct time is set, push the crown back into its normal operating position (Position 0). The second hand will resume movement.

2. Setting the Day and Date
- Pull Out the Crown to Position 1: Gently pull the crown out to the first click position (Position 1).
- Set the Date: Rotate the crown clockwise to adjust the date.
- Set the Day: Rotate the crown counter-clockwise to adjust the day of the week.
- Avoid Setting Between 9 PM and 3 AM: To prevent damage to the movement, avoid setting the day and date when the watch hands are between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM. If the current time falls within this period, first set the time outside this range, then set the day/date, and finally reset the correct time.
- Push In the Crown: After setting the day and date, push the crown back into its normal operating position (Position 0).
3. Bracelet Adjustment
The watch features an adjustable link bracelet with a fold-over clasp and double push-button safety. Adjusting the bracelet typically involves removing or adding links to achieve a comfortable fit. Due to the specialized tools and precision required, it is recommended to have bracelet adjustments performed by a qualified jeweler or watch technician. Attempting to adjust the bracelet without proper tools or experience may result in damage to the watch or injury.

Operating Your Watch
Water Resistance
Your Armitron watch is water resistant to 165 feet (50 meters). This rating means the watch is suitable for short periods of recreational swimming, but it is not suitable for diving or snorkeling. To maintain water resistance, ensure the crown is fully pushed in at all times when the watch is exposed to water. Do not operate the crown while the watch is wet or submerged.

Figure 4: Water Resistance Chart illustrating different levels of water resistance for watches. This watch is rated for 50M (165FT), suitable for swimming.
Important: Water resistance is not a permanent condition and may eventually be compromised by the aging of gaskets or accidental shocks to the crown or case. Regular checks by a qualified technician are recommended to ensure water resistance integrity.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the watch case and bracelet regularly with a soft, dry cloth to remove dirt and moisture. For the metal bracelet, a soft brush and mild soapy water can be used, followed by thorough rinsing and drying. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Exposure to extreme temperatures (above 60°C / 140°F or below 0°C / 32°F) can affect the watch's accuracy and battery life.
- Magnetic Fields: Keep the watch away from strong magnetic fields, as these can interfere with the watch's movement and affect timekeeping accuracy.
- Battery Replacement: When the watch stops running, it indicates the battery needs replacement. This should be performed by a qualified watch technician to ensure the correct battery type is used and the water resistance seal is maintained.
- Impact Protection: While durable, avoid dropping the watch or subjecting it to strong impacts, which can damage the internal movement or external components.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Watch stops or runs intermittently. | Depleted battery. | Replace the battery by a qualified technician. |
| Time is inaccurate. | Exposure to strong magnetic fields; crown not fully pushed in; internal movement issue. | Demagnetize the watch (by a technician); ensure crown is fully pushed in; consult a technician for inspection. |
| Day/Date does not change or changes at the wrong time. | Incorrectly set AM/PM; day/date mechanism stuck. | Re-set the time and day/date, ensuring AM/PM is correct (refer to "Setting the Day and Date" section); if issue persists, consult a technician. |
| Moisture under the crystal. | Compromised water resistance seal; crown not fully pushed in when exposed to water. | Immediately take the watch to a qualified technician for inspection and repair to prevent further damage. |
