Model: KQ908G

Introduction

Thank you for choosing the KitchenAid Digital Glass Kitchen Scale. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your new scale. Designed for precision, this scale accurately measures both dry and liquid ingredients up to 5000g or 5000ml, making it an indispensable tool for your culinary needs. Please read this manual thoroughly before first use and keep it for future reference.

Safety Information

  • Always place the scale on a firm, flat, and stable surface to ensure accurate readings.
  • Do not immerse the scale in water or any other liquid. The glass surface is easy to clean, but the electronic components are not waterproof.
  • Handle the glass surface with care. Although tempered for safety, excessive force or dropping can cause breakage.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals on the scale. Wipe with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
  • Ensure batteries are inserted correctly according to polarity markings. Remove batteries if the scale will not be used for an extended period.

Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the scale from its packaging. Inspect for any damage.
  2. Battery Installation:

The scale requires 3 AAA batteries (not included). Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the scale.

In the center, there is a rectangular battery compartment cover, secured by a small screw. Above this cover, two slots are visible, each designed to hold two AAA batteries, with clear markings for positive (+) and negative (-) terminals.

Open the battery compartment cover. Insert 3 AAA batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment. Close the cover securely.

  3. Placement: Place the scale on a hard, flat, and level surface. Avoid placing it on soft or uneven surfaces, which can affect accuracy.

Operating Instructions

  1. Turning On/Off:

Press the large rotary knob located on the front of the scale to turn it on. The display will illuminate and show "0.0". The scale will automatically turn off after 3 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life, or you can press and hold the rotary knob to manually turn it off.

  2. Unit Selection:

To change the unit of measurement (grams, pounds/ounces, fluid ounces, milliliters), rotate the large knob. The display will cycle through the available units: g (grams), lb oz (pounds and ounces), fl oz (fluid ounces), and ml (milliliters). Select the desired unit before weighing.

  3. Tare Function (Add & Weigh):

The tare function allows you to weigh multiple ingredients consecutively in the same container, or to zero out the weight of a container before adding ingredients.

    • Place an empty container on the scale. The display will show its weight.
    • Press the rotary knob once. The display will reset to "0.0", effectively taring the container's weight.
    • Add your first ingredient. The scale will display its weight.
    • To add another ingredient, press the rotary knob again to reset the display to "0.0" before adding the next item. Repeat as needed.
  4. Weighing Ingredients:

Once the scale is on and the desired unit is selected, place the item(s) to be weighed directly onto the glass surface or into a tared container. The weight will be displayed instantly.

Maintenance and Care

  • Cleaning: The tempered glass surface is stain and odor resistant. To clean, wipe the surface with a damp cloth and mild detergent if necessary. For best results, wipe with a clean, damp cloth and dry thoroughly immediately after use. Do not use abrasive pads, harsh chemicals, or immerse the scale in water.
  • Storage: Store the scale in a dry place at room temperature. Avoid extreme temperatures or high humidity. Do not place heavy objects on the scale when not in use.
  • Battery Replacement: If the display shows "Lo" or becomes dim, it's time to replace the batteries. Follow the battery installation steps in the Setup section.
