1. Introduction
The DYMO LabelManager 160 is a portable label maker designed for fast and simple label creation. 2. Package Contents
Verify that all items are present in your package:

3. Setup
3.1. Battery Installation
The LabelManager 160 requires three (3) AA batteries for operation. To install the batteries:
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
- Press down on the latch and slide the cover off.
- Insert three AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Replace the battery compartment cover until it clicks into place.
3.2. Label Cassette Installation
To install a D1 label cassette:
- Open the label cassette compartment cover located on the back of the label maker.
- Insert the label cassette with the label side facing up, ensuring it clicks firmly into place.
- Close the compartment cover.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Powering On/Off
Press the Power button (⏻) to turn the label maker on or off. The device features an auto power-off function to conserve battery life.
4.2. Typing and Editing Text
Use the QWERTY keyboard to type your desired label text. The large display shows the text as you type. Use the arrow keys to navigate and edit text. The Backspace key (↵) removes characters.

4.3. Formatting Labels
The LabelManager 160 offers various formatting options through one-touch smart keys:
- Size (AA): Adjust text size.
- Bold (B): Apply bold formatting.
- Italic (I): Apply italic formatting.
- Underline/Box (U): Add underline or box borders.
- Symbols/Clip-Art (ABC): Access a library of over 200 symbols and clip-art.
- Menu button: Access additional formatting options and saved labels.

4.4. Printing Labels
Once your label text is entered and formatted, press the Print button (printer icon) to print the label. The device will feed the label out, and you can use the integrated cutter on the side to cut the label.

7. Maintenance

When a label cassette is empty or you wish to change label types, follow the cassette installation steps in Section 3.2 to remove the old cassette and insert a new one.

If you encounter issues with your LabelManager 160, consider the following common solutions:
- No Power: Ensure batteries are correctly installed and have sufficient charge. Replace with new AA batteries if necessary.
- Print Quality Issues: Check if the label cassette is properly seated. Clean the print head if print appears faded or incomplete.
- Label Jam: Open the label cassette compartment and carefully remove any jammed label material. Ensure the tape is not twisted.
- "Tape Error" Message: This usually indicates an issue with the label cassette installation or a tape jam. Re-install the cassette or clear any obstructions.
