This image shows the EMOS ESW5001S wireless temperature and humidity sensor. The device is silver-grey with a dark grey frame and a built-in stand, designed for upright placement. It features two vertical indented lines on its front surface.

Setup

1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the sensor.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert two (2) AAA/Micro batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Batteries are not included.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

2. Pairing with Weather Station

  • Ensure your EMOS weather station is powered on and in pairing mode (refer to your weather station's manual for specific instructions).
  • Place the sensor within close proximity to the weather station during the initial pairing process.
  • The sensor will automatically attempt to connect to the weather station. A successful connection is usually indicated by a signal icon on the weather station's display.
  • Allow approximately 2 weeks for the weather station's self-learning function to collect sufficient data for accurate forecasting.

Operating Instructions

  • Placement: The sensor can be placed indoors or outdoors. For outdoor use, choose a sheltered location away from direct sunlight and precipitation to ensure accurate readings and prolong sensor life.
  • Range: The sensor maintains a stable wireless connection up to 100 meters (approximately 328 feet) from the weather station. Note that local conditions, such as walls, electronic interference, and large metal objects, may affect the actual transmission range.
  • Multiple Sensors: Up to three (3) EMOS sensors can be connected to a single weather station. This allows for monitoring of temperature and humidity in various areas of your home or property.
  • Switching Displays: If multiple sensors are connected, your weather station's display will typically have a function to switch between the readings from each connected sensor. Refer to your weather station's manual for detailed instructions on this feature.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the sensor periodically with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the casing or internal components.
  • Battery Replacement: When the batteries are low, your weather station may indicate a low battery warning for the sensor. Replace both batteries simultaneously with new AAA/Micro batteries to ensure optimal performance. Dispose of old batteries responsibly.
  • Environmental Protection: While designed for outdoor use, extreme weather conditions (e.g., heavy rain, snow, direct prolonged sunlight) can impact sensor longevity. Consider placing the sensor in a protected area.

Troubleshooting

  • No Reading/Lost Connection:
    • Ensure batteries are correctly installed and not depleted. Replace if necessary.
    • Move the sensor closer to the weather station to rule out range issues.
    • Check for sources of interference (e.g., other wireless devices, large metal objects) between the sensor and the weather station.
    • Re-pair the sensor with the weather station according to the setup instructions.
  • Inaccurate Readings:
    • Ensure the sensor is not exposed to direct sunlight, heat sources, or extreme cold, which can skew temperature readings.
    • Verify that the sensor's vents are not blocked, allowing for proper air circulation.
    • Allow sufficient time for the weather station's self-learning function to calibrate (approx. 2 weeks).
  • Short Range:
    • Local environmental conditions (e.g., thick walls, dense foliage, electronic noise) can reduce the effective wireless range. Try repositioning the sensor or weather station.
