Setup
Initial Charging
Upon receiving your SEIKO SNE573 solar watch, ensure it is exposed to sufficient light to begin charging. Place the watch face-up under direct sunlight or strong artificial light. A full charge can take several hours depending on the light source intensity. The watch has a 10-month power reserve when fully charged.
Setting Time and Date
- Unscrew the Crown: Locate the crown on the right side of the watch case. Gently unscrew it counter-clockwise until it is free from the case.
- Pull the Crown: Pull the crown out to the first click for date adjustment, or to the second click for time adjustment.
- Set the Date: If at the first click, turn the crown to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 1 AM to prevent damage to the date mechanism.
- Set the Time: If at the second click, turn the crown to move the hands. Set the time, ensuring the AM/PM is correctly accounted for if setting the date. Push the crown back in when finished.
- Screw Down the Crown: Carefully screw the crown back into the case clockwise until it is securely tightened. This is crucial for maintaining water resistance.

Adjusting the Silicone Strap
The black silicone strap is designed for comfort and durability. Adjust the strap length by using the buckle to find a comfortable fit on your wrist. Ensure it is snug enough to prevent excessive movement but not so tight as to restrict circulation.
Operating the Watch
Timekeeping and Date Display
The watch displays time with hour, minute, and second hands. The date is shown in a window on the dial, typically at the 3 o'clock position. The V147 caliber solar movement ensures accurate timekeeping.
Using the Uni-directional Elapsed Timing Bezel
The black bezel surrounding the dial rotates in one direction (counter-clockwise) to prevent accidental lengthening of dive time. To use it for timing:
- Align the bezel's zero marker with the minute hand at the start of your activity (e.g., a dive).
- As time passes, the minute hand will point to the elapsed time on the bezel.
LumiBrite Illumination
The hands and markers on the dial are coated with LumiBrite, a luminous material that absorbs light energy and glows in the dark. Exposure to light will charge the LumiBrite, providing visibility in low-light conditions. The intensity and duration of the glow depend on the amount and type of light exposure.
Water Resistance (200M Diver's)
This watch is ISO-certified for scuba diving up to 200 meters (660 feet). This means it is suitable for professional marine activity and serious surface water sports, but not for saturation diving. Always ensure the crown is securely screwed down before exposing the watch to water.
Maintenance
Cleaning Your Watch
Regularly clean the watch case and strap with a soft, damp cloth. For the silicone strap, mild soap and water can be used. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the watch's finish or strap.
Maintaining Solar Charge
To ensure optimal performance and longevity of the 10-month power reserve, expose your watch to light regularly. If stored in darkness for extended periods, the watch may stop. Once exposed to light, it will resume operation. For best results, avoid prolonged storage in complete darkness.
Water Resistance Care
Always ensure the screw-down crown is fully tightened before any contact with water. After exposure to saltwater, rinse the watch thoroughly with fresh water and dry it with a soft cloth. Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperature changes, such as moving from a hot sauna directly into cold water, as this can compromise seals.
Strap Longevity
The silicone strap is durable but can degrade over time with exposure to chemicals, extreme temperatures, or prolonged direct sunlight. Inspect the strap periodically for signs of wear and tear. Replace the strap if it shows signs of cracking or damage.

Troubleshooting
- Watch Not Running: If the watch has stopped, it may be due to insufficient light exposure. Place the watch under strong light for several hours to recharge the solar cell.
- Time/Date Incorrect: Refer to the "Setting Time and Date" section under Setup to manually adjust the time and date. Ensure the crown is fully unscrewed before pulling it out and securely screwed back in afterward.
- Condensation Inside Crystal: If you notice condensation under the sapphire crystal, this indicates a potential breach in the watch's water resistance. Stop using the watch in water immediately and seek professional service from an authorized SEIKO service center.
- LumiBrite Not Glowing: Ensure the watch has been exposed to sufficient light to charge the LumiBrite. The glow will fade over time in darkness.
